Success after IF

What to do about the flu?

Stella has the flu for the first time.  She can't keep anything down and has the trotsky's.  She doesn't have a fever and while being more clingy than usual, she is still her happy go lucky self.  Thank god!

DH is out getting Pedialyte, what else should we be doing?  Should I give her Motrin even though there is no fever?  Sorry, I'm totally clueless and it breaks my heart watching her puke so much.  We've already changed 3 times in 2 hours.

Re: What to do about the flu?

  • If she's happy I wouldn't bother with motrin...if she gets cranky then maybe give some (she could be achy).

Just keep her hydrated... pedialyte, water, formula, whatever she'll take.  And if she's vomiting only try and ounce or so at a time, let it simmer and see what happens... then give a little more. (Chugging an 8oz could be a bad scene).

Stay away from juice though, sugar can make diarrhea worse.

And don't worry about solids... if she wants them great, if not, no big deal... just push the liquids.

Poor baby Stella... I hope she feels much better very very soon!!!

  • What Hannah said! Wink

Not that this helps you now, and I found myself in the same situation after Grant's 4 month shots. . . but I keep a bottle of Pedialyte on hand now.  You never know when you'll need it and when you do. . . you do.  I needed it for Grant, but since DH is away, the on-call nurse said it was not worth going out at 2:00am for, so we made do with water. . .

Hopefully she won't but if her temperature climbs, a cool bath (and Motrin) works wonders.

I hope that Stella is feeling all better soon!!!

  • I hope she feels better soon...ditto hannah, she's a smart one:)

And OMG looove the siggie!  So freakinn cute!

  • Poor baby! DD just had a stomach bug for 4 days... it wasnt fun for any of us. We ended up having to feed her pedialyte with a medicine dropper because she wouldn't take it any other way. We didn't use tylenol or motrin since she didn't have a fever at all.

    Hope she's feeling better soon!!
