So at Aidan's appt today to check on his rash, the nurse weighed him (16lb4oz at almost 4 months) and was like "OH what a fat baby!"
I don't think he's fat. He looks very well proportioned. What did your LO weigh at 4 months?

15.8 at 4.5 months. How long is he? I mini-panicked when she said M was 90th percentile for weight...but she's also 90th for height so she's proportionate.
Since it was a check up and not an exam they only weighed him so I'm not sure. He's long though, and definitely doesn't even have belly rolls or anything. He's long and on the thinner side. He's just HEAVY. lol. We go monday for his official 4 month appt and he'll be measured then.

i don't think your LO is fat. they need to chunk up before they grow. dumb nurse comment.
Thanks! I KNOW he isn't fat.. he doesn't even have cute chunk rolls like some babies. He's just long and heavy. I'm not sure who this nurse was but I've never seen her before. The pedi didn't mention his weight other than to say he's happy he's gaining despite his severe reflux. So THERE miss mean nurse.

That is rude of the nurse to say and I don't think that is "fat" for a baby (if there is such a thing). Ryleigh weighed 15 pounds 7 ounces today at about 4.5 months and 25 inches long. 91st percentile for weight and 68th for height. Doc is not concerned.
Big baby, maybe, but certainly not fat....what an odd choice of words.
Based on the not-so-accurate method of weigh myself/weigh myself + baby, DS is between 16 & 16.5 lbs. He's big, but not enormous. I love my chunky monkey.
Uh oh, my LO is already 16.1lbs.... but he is only of average height. My nurse says he is doing really well though. I wouldn't worry, it means he is getting lots of good food. My DH says lifting LO is also a great arm workout!

Mine is even fatter.... 17lbs 12oz on his 4month check up and 26 1/2 inches long... So glad i am not alone with a big baby. He did weight 10lb11oz when he was born..

We just had our 4 month appointment today--Eli is just under 20 pounds and 27 inches long. 95+ percentile for both. Pedi said he's a big boy but very well proportioned.
I think your nurse is a b!tch, personally. As long as your percentages are okay, you're okay.
DS weighed 14lbs 7oz today and measured in at 27.5" long. He's off the charts on length (probably at about 97th percentile) and in the 52nd in weight. Doc was fine with his measurements. Your baby is not fat--she needed to be smacked.
DS is only 3 months, but he's already at 15 and some change. He'll definitely be at 16 and some extra by the time he's 4 months.
Why is it that pediatrics nurses are so thick-headed? Okay, maybe they're not ALL thick-headed but I swear, our pediatrician's nurse makes the same kinds of stupid comments.

Using the term "fat" for a baby, to me, is a compliment! Babies are supposed to be fat. It's adults who translate "fat" into something negative.
Big baby, maybe, but certainly not fat....what an odd choice of words.

Trevor was 17lb at 4 months. And he's definitely not fat...just solid
12 lbs
25 inches
He was 6 lbs 13 oz and 20 inches at birth.
Mine is even fatter.... 17lbs 12oz on his 4month check up and 26 1/2 inches long... So glad i am not alone with a big baby. He did weight 10lb11oz when he was born..

He's a big boy but there is nothing wrong with that unless your pedi is concerned. All babies are different.
DD was about 11 pounds at 3 months. She's about 13 now.
