I'm not saying this is true for everyone, but I think some times your body can sense the production of HcG before a home pregnancy test is sensitive enough to detect it.
Actually, I've already pushed my ovulation back by 2 days. I haven't been charting BBT, just averaging a 27 day cycle and assuming that I ovulate 14 days before my next expected period. DH and I aren't TTC right now, so I haven't felt the need to be more thorough in my family planning. We just abstain from having SEX when I may be ovulating.
Thanks for your advice. It's probably good that I try to keep my hopes in check. Even though DH and I weren't trying, we would be more than excited if I was!
This isn't a good method unless you have charted and know your LP length. Mine was usually about 10 days so I never got a BFN because my LP wasn't long enough for me to test reliably before AF was due. This last cycle I got my BFP at 10DPO, however I followed it up later that morning with a digital which turned out negative. Tested the next morning with the other digital in the pack and it was postive.
As to the symptoms, I still don't really have any yet. But, like PP said, I would get phantoms all the time before.
I hate to tell you this because hope is such a great thing to hold on to sometimes. If you are pregnant enough to have symptoms you are enough to have a postive test. You probably have phantom symptoms.
This was not true for me when we coneived DD. I was sick right away and my boobs were so sore that riding in the car was unbearable just four days after conception I was throwing up. I didn't get a BFP test until about two weeks later. As you can see by my siggy, I was in fact pg.
I got a couple of BFN's this time around as well, before getting a BFP. I knew I was pg though. I would start taking vitamins and keep testing if I were you.
I hate to tell you this but the sore boobs were probably related to increased progesterone from ovulation and the throwing up was not related to pregnancy. You were probably sick or something. There is no way you had any hCG in your system 4 days after conception. Implantation doesn't even happen until 7-10 dpo and that's when hCG production starts.
I wasn't sick or something. I threw up for 20 weeks thereafter.
I didn't say you were sick for 20 weeks. I said you were sick at 4dpo and for a bit thereafter. Then the m/s started.

Fishy....IMHO.
I think perhaps she wants to TTC and that something is preventing her from doing it. Could be that her significant other wants to wait etc. I'm sensing that there is more to this than originally expressed. I am hoping she just really wants a baby and has gotten ahead of herself. Who knows?

I tested the day AF was due: BFN. About 4 days after missed AF: BFN. Took another 8 days after missing AF and got another BFN. I didn't get a BFP until 2 weeks after I missed AF. I took that test because the night before, I was exhausted, my back hurt and I felt icky. I tried with FMU and that's when it came out positive. Good luck!
This! But the BFP was when I missed my 2nd period. I figured I tested 3 times, must not be, then when AF was not here again I tested and BFP. Take HPT with FMU to see. GL.

A woman's body thinks that its preparing for a AF because the fertilized egg hasn't implanted yet. And since it's preparing for AF you have a hormone increase--just like your boobs get sore during AF and other AF symptoms.

I didn't want to bore you with my big long story. DH and I have only been married for 1 year and planned on TTC when I graduated from college in May. We aren't preventing pregnancy (BC, condoms, etc) though, just obstaing when I ovulate.
Obviously with this method (or lack there of) I have had three(ish) "Am I Pregnant?" moments and bounced around on TTC boards to see if anyone has had similiar experiences as me. I usually average a 27 day cycle, but three times in the last year my cycle has been over that (29, 29 and 31). So I've checked out TTC boards in the past and googled the terms so I knew what everyone was talking about.
Like I said, I didn't mean to offend anyone and I didn't mean to sound fishy. I know how to track my BBT and have a few times in the past, and I do track my CM, periods, and other natural family planning techniques.
And since it is uncommon for me to have a cycle that lasts more than 27 days (usually I range from 25-27) than I start wondering if I am PG. And I don't think that's weird - it seems like most women would agree.
Ah!!!!!!!! I just noticed you added your ticker - Yay!!

Yeah, today just sucked b/c everyone was here and they were all annoying at the same time. Never good. At one point my boss was all hyped up on caffeine and kept coming in asking for things and rummaging through my stuff looking for it and I was like, "RELAX!!!! I didn't realize this was so weird for people to understand...
We are emotionally and financially ready to have a baby and we wanted to just see what would happen if we didn't worry about it too much. I'm still in school and didn't necessarily want to deal with Pregnancy Symptoms while attending college so we have been more not trying to concieve than actually trying. We are both relatively young and newly married. If it happened that would be amazing and exciting and we would be really happy. If it didn't happen by May then we were going to get serious and start charting and consciously trying to make a baby. For now we've just been enjoying being married and didn't want to put any additional stress on our first year.
So, the only thing really keeping us from not really trying to get pregnant right now was school, but if it happened of course we would be thrilled and thankful and happy. And, at that point, who really cares if your running to the bathroom every 30 during lecture?

Don't worry, it's ok to make mistakes. Just come back to play another day and everyone will forgive (as long as you don't do something stupid like insult someone's fertility or cause a massive raging board war). Everyone gets flamed from time to time. You're taking it like a champ. Good luck finishing up your semester.

Yes, come again? That cycle was actually the only one where I didn't feel pregnant. HCG causes symptoms, I didn't have enough to make a highly sensitive test turn positive so I didn't have enough for symptoms.
If she has enough for symptoms, she has enough for a positive test.
I waited till I was three days late to test. I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms either. They only this is I wasn't have any cramping which I usually do before AF.

OP: I think you either are trying (meaning NOT using BC or some RELIABLE method of natural BC) or you are not. That's it. You obviously want to be pregnant now (hence all the posts rather than being patient and waiting for a Positive). So just say you are trying. What's so hard about that? Because you are.

I don't know if you saw this, so I thought I would copy it to you. I'm not trying to be weird or anything. I guess what I'm trying to say is we are not really doing anything - just trying to let things happen naturally. Anyways, here what I said before:

I have to disagree with the statment if you have pregnancy symptoms you have enough Hcg to have a positive test. I have been pregnant 3 times now. Time #1 - I had symptoms and got a bfp immediately
Time #2 - I had symptoms (nausea, fatigue, and sore boobs) several (five) days before my bfp. I got bfn's from the time the symptoms started until I finally got the positive. I did end up m/c 10 days later.
Time #3 - symptoms and bfp
My second experience is why I disagree with the statement. They were definitely not phantom symptoms and I did have 3 negative tests before the positive.
Yes i used the "5 days before" test and tested every day starting at 5 days before, they were all negative until 1 day before. I would wait until you actually miss your period.
I'll repeat mine - If you are pregnant enough for symptoms, you are pregnant enough to turn a test positive. If the tests are negative, the symptoms are related to something besides pregnancy.
I had plenty of symptoms before I got a positive result. The whole time I knew I was pregnant so I wouldnt necessarily agree with your post.
I agree. My boobs were swollen and sore (not a usual period symptom of mine) and I was extremely sensitive to smells for a full WEEK before I got my BFP. LMP was 12/11/09, Ovulated on 12/25 (Yes, I used an OPK), got a BFN on Jan. 3 and a BFP on Jan 7. So, while I don't think you should get your hopes up just yet, just be patient and test again in a few days if AF still hasn't shown up. I truly thought I was about to get AF for a few days - thought being pregnant was out of the question since I had been cramping for a few days - so I was quite shocked when I finally got my BFP! Best of luck!

I did see it actually. Still seems like you are trying...you either want a kid or you don't...that's my point. But I hope you get the baby you obviously want whenever you are ready for it.
Re: Did you get many BFN before getting the BFP?
This isn't a good method unless you have charted and know your LP length. Mine was usually about 10 days so I never got a BFN because my LP wasn't long enough for me to test reliably before AF was due.
No problem. I apperenlty upset a few people with this post anyway. What are you going to do, I'm new.
Come again? She never said she had symptoms prior to her BFP.
Hi Mill! Yeah that would be pretty awesome if I could manage to get myself here. Thanks!!
No worries
We know where you're coming from now.
