Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

At what age did you put your LO in a crib?

We had DS in an Arm's Reach Co-sleeper for about the first 3 months, then moved him to his crib.  We're going to have DD in the co-sleeper for a little while, too, but not sure how long.  Just curious when others put their LO in the crib.

:)

  • Loading the player...
  • She was in our room in a bassinet for 6 weeks... for convenience and peace of mind. I went back to work at 6 weeks and had to get up at 1am so we moved her into her crib by then since I am sure the alarm would have woken her up.

This time I don't get up for work in the middle of the night, so this one may stay in our room for a few months while DD stays in her crib... and eventually moves into a new room, and then the baby will move into the crib.

  • Ds was in the cosleeper til about 4 months
  • We had DS in his own room/crib from the first night.  We never had to transition him in there, and he has always loved his crib. :)

  • Clay at 8 weeks, Finn at 10 weeks.
  • we co-slept for 3 months, then he slept in the PNP in our room for 3 months.  the transition to crib was simple for us though, he'll sleep anywhere.
  • Day one. She's always been in her own crib.
  • 7 weeks when his noises and movements were waking me up more than he was waking up himself.

  • 6 months.  lol.  But the crib is in our room.
  • 4 days.  He slept there as soon as we brought him home.
  • we co-slept for 6 months.  she started napping in the crib at 4 or 5 months and then was in the crib at night at 6 months.

  • We had Sasha in a bassinet in our room for about 2 months. She was a very loud sleeper, so it finally got to us, we'd start cracking up and woke her up, lol. We're planning on getting an arm's reach co-sleeper next time too, probably for a similar time frame.

  • 2 months.  But I imagine that it will be earlier with DC#2.
  • 5 weeks. We were all disturbing one another's sleep by that point. The first night he went down in his crib in his own room was AH-mazing.

With #2, I would really like to start with the crib from day one but we may put it in our room. Leo hated his bassinet and I've already given it away.

  • 5 weeks.  Not sure what were going to do this time.  I am 50% wanting straight to crib and 50% wanting to wait so who knows.
  • DD: 6 wks

    DS: birth!

  • 1.5 weeks.  DH went back to work and I still couldn't figure out how to BF without turning on the light.  I also felt in the middle of a wind machine between DH's snoring and DD's grunts, etc.  Kept the bassinet in our room for naps and when I showered.

  • She slept on the PNP bassinet for the first week home, then she moved into her room in the crib.
  • 7 months.  DD was in a pavlik harness for her hips, so she mostly slept on her belly on top of me - otherwise her poor little legs stuck up and she wouldn't sleep.  Plus she was still BF'ing every hour to two which made it easier for both of us.  I'd do it again with a second child, but DH was anxious to get her out of our bed, so I don't know about that.

  • 8 weeks.  She got too noisy for me and I think I was keeping her awake because at the slightest noise I would pick her up.   She started sleeping 7-8 hours as soon as we moved her to the crib.
  • Never. DD has always hated her crib.  We tried the pnp, she didn't like that either.  She slept in a moses basket until she was about 2 mos, then she moved into bed with us.  She just moved to a full size bed in her room last night.  She wouldn't do her crib converted to a toddler bed either. So we just put a full size mattress on the floor and it's worked really well.
  • I want to say 3 or 4 weeks. I'm not sure - the first week or two we slept on the couch/in the swing/in a cradle in our room. I HATED that stupid cradle - it is (WAS) a family tradition.

I'm praying MIL buys us a bassinet so we can do that for the first couple of months - especially since they will be sharing a room

  • D was just shy of 3 months.  We'll probably do about the same with Wes.

  • DD slept in the bassinet for the first few weeks and then on me in the recliner for a few weeks after that. We graduated to the swing for another few weeks and then her crib. So I'd say probably around 3 months.
  • Two weeks.  Next LO, I will do it from day one!

  • 6 weeks.
He slept in the co-sleeper thingie until he got too long for it (that didn't take long). Then I moved him to a bassinet next to the bed but we kept each other awake.
  • DS slept in his crib from day 1.

Um...4 days?? Embarrassed? I didn't know a thing re: co-sleeping or having baby in the same room.? I just thought that's what you did.? DC #2 will not be so independent, however, b/c we're not comfortable putting him in a room with a toddler who can get up and walk over to him...or do her world famous (volume 10) "HEY!" just to wake him up for fun.??
  • 1 month.  I had stopped BF'ing, and all 3 of us slept better not being in the same room.  We're 3 noisy sleepers!
