I had a c-section and I remember being surprised that Jim wanted to see her coming out. Then I remember him taking all the pictures and just beaming. Thinking about it made me tear up a little. He loves his little girl.
I remember him chuckling and commenting that she was "pinking up." He was holding her when I got back, and he couldn't take his eyes off her. He loves his little girl so much.
DH was standing at my side holding my hand. He cut the cord and after showing DD to me they took her over to the little table to do their thing really quick. DH was holding my hand so tight and he was trying to be there for me (I had a pretty tramatic delivery) but he was standing on his tippy toes trying to see DD. I looked at him and said go see your daughter. It was so sweet because he was trying to be there for me but he wanted to get his hands on his little girl!

I was knocked out with general anesthesia and I woke up to a team of doctors and my husband hovering over me. He said something along the lines of "He is so beautiful and he made eye contact with me right away." He was able to take a picture and bring it to me in the recovery room but I remember him being so choked up.

I remember having to ask DH, "what is it?!". We were on team green and he was so engrossed in the birth and the baby that I never heard him tell me that it was a boy. He swears he said it. And maybe he did, but not loud enough for a delivery room apparently.

I remember him holding my hand and his eyes tearing up. And they asked if he wanted to hold her and he said no because he was shaking so much he was afraid he'd drop her. (It was 3:30 in the morning and I'd been in labor 53 hours, in his defense!)
He was stroking my hair while they cleaned her up a bit and just kept saying "you did a great job honey, great job. I'm so proud of you." The look on his face was priceless too.
I remember we both cried but not a lot of the details of *just* after. But, I do remember that after we held DS for a few minutes, DH went across the room with DS so the nurse could clean DS up. Standing over there, DH called his mom right away, and I clearly heard him say "he's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen" and just started bawling. I'll never forget that.
My DH froze up a little during his time in the operating room with me for the c/s. He did much better once we were reunited in the recovery room. It's difficult for me to say much b/c I was strapped to the table and couldn't see anything and DH was scared. He stayed by my head and didn't want to cut the cord or take photos. Our pediatrician attempted to take photos of DD right away, but somehow turned off the camera, so DH had to walk over to the bassinet/warmer take a few while they cleaned her off.
The anesthesiologist really stepped up and acted like my "coach" during the entire process. DH was only in the room for a few minutes b/c he left with DD shortly after they removed her from my belly.
ETA: These posts are all so beautiful. I guess I should add that my fave memory was getting wheeled into my recovery room and not knowing where DH & DD were at the time, and then seeing them sitting quietly in a rocking chair waiting for me. She was all bundled up in her cute hat & blanket in his arms and just stared at me quietly. We thought for sure we somehow won the baby lotto and got a baby who wouldn't fuss much.
I had a c/s and DH was holding my hand and keeping my shiit together, and we just looked at each other and started the tears when we heard them pulling DS out (neither of us were prepared to watch the surgery), and when he cried. As soon as he was out our MW came to my side so DH could go across the room with DS.
I don't remember his actual facial expression but I remember how nervous he was. I kept my eyes closed because of the pain, big mistake!, but he watched quietly as she was born.
sadly nothing, as soon as DD was born (c-section) they knocked me out (I only saw her for about 1/2 a second when they lifted her over the curtain thing) and well DH was passed out!
I had a c/section and Brant instantly cried when she came out. And then he proceeded to giggle/laugh for the next 2 hours. He was so giddy with excitement over his baby girl. And he wouldn't put her down. Love at first sight for him.
I remember being surprised at how shaky he was about the c-section. He was white as a sheet. The doc. asked if he wanted to see DS come out and he just violently shook his head, then held his camera over the sheet w/out looking and snapped a picture. lol.
After DS was born he got choked up and didn't know whether to stay with me or go to DS until the nurse beckoned him over to the baby. I heard him ask "can I touch him?". The next thing I knew he had DS wrapped up and was holding him next to my head so I could see him and he was saying "He grabbed my finger already!".

We were on team green so I asked him, "What is it?" He started laughing and crying at the same time and said, "It's a boy!" and leaned over to look at him on my chest. Best moment ever.
He cried. Then he said "Hi baby Stella" and she turned and looked right at him like she recognized his voice. I asked him if he would take some pictures and he said "When she lets go of my finger".
When the midwife put DS on my chest, I looked up at DH and tears rolled out of his eyes! The nurse asked if he wanted to take a picture and he fumbled with the camera and stammered "I don't know how to work it" LOL! It was hilarious and so sweet... he was so caught up in the moment, he forgot how to use his camera!

With DD1, I just remember how amazed he was by her and by the whole thing.
With DD2, it was a c/s, so he was the one who brought her to me and held her while I met her for the first time, and it was such a wonderful moment.
Both times, I was so grateful that he took their first pictures while they were being cleaned up. I was watching that happen from across the room (DD1 b/c she had to be suctioned extra-well, and DD2 b/c of the c/s) and couldn't see much, so being able to look at those pics afterwards meant a lot to me.
Him screaming, "Omg, his balls are huge!" and then him taking a bajillion pictures of said huge balls Of course, there's only one picture of me holding DS.
These are so sweet! Before I even saw DS, DH yelled, "Ten fingers, ten toes and a little weenie!"
No joke - we already knew DS was a boy, so I'm not sure what he was expecting! I still give him a hard time about this today... we all laughed pretty hard.
I remember DH watching the nurses trying to get DS to breathe across the room while my Dr. was frantically stitching me up and trying to get me to stop bleeding.
I remember DH saying "He's soo beautiful, babe" before I could see DS (I had a c-section). He was soo excited and even cut the umbilical cord even though he said he wasnt going to do so.

DD was born Not breathing so it was all a little rushed and tramautic, but I remember H sobbing, partly becasue she was sick and mostly because he was so happy.
He went with her to the NICU while I got stitched up but when he got back and we were waiting for the NICU team to come talk to us, he told me he was so proud of me and that she was beautiful just like her momma.
What DH said: "That wasn't so hard - we should have like 10 of these!"
But, what DH did: He held DS all alone over on the bed, with his shirt off to help keep him warm, while the midwife & assistant & doula all tried to help me stop hemorrhaging. I never realized how bad the bleeding was because it was such a peaceful lovely sight to watch my two boys.

After Nathan was delivered via c-section, my H left my side to follow Nathan around as they cleaned him up and observed him. He asked my permission to leave the OR and go to the nursery, which I thought was cute. He was snapping a trillion pictures...and SO proud.
When Colin was born, he was just as anxious to get his hands on him. And the OR staff let him put on the first diaper. I have the best pictures of my proud H thanks to an awesome nurse.
The way he acted with both made me realize what a sweet sappy man he is:)
ETA: OMG, I am cracking up after reading thru these! The 'huge balls' post and the '10 fingers, 10 toes, tiny weenie' are hilarios!
Re: What do you remember about DH right after delivery.
Him saying "Oh my God he's GORGEOUS!" before I could see him.
I'll never forget that.
Isn't it funny how the things they said we will never forget??

Waaa these are making me tear up !
DH told me good job, he loved me, and gave me a kiss on the forehead.
DH loves Lo so much and she loves her Dada!
when the baby was taken over to get looked over he followed her and when he looked back at me the placenta came out. it was lovely.
he is only a tiny bit traumatized.
He almost fainted. Had to sit with his between his knees. Then he cried a little and said "Hello Amelia!"

This exactly. He actually gagged when the placenta came out. I told him not to look.
