I find that a little solids before naps (about 1-2hrs after a bottle) helps him nap better/longer. He is a big boy and was eating every 3hrs 8oz of formula (sleeps 12hrs at night). Now he can eat 3 meals of solids a day plus 6-8oz every 4hrs. So he's dropped a bottle. But getting the same amount of formula if you include what I put in the cereal.
Re: Anyone's 5 mo old eating solids 3x a day?
Hmmm...DS was wanting way to much formula, so we started on solids around 4.5 months. Once we did, his formula intake cut down A LOT. Our pedi said he didn't need anymore than 32 oz/day max. Now he gets 28-32 oz/day and 2 veggies (mid AM and mid afternoon or at dinner). He gets 2, 1.5-2 hours naps during the day, cat nap of 20-30 min in the evening, and sleeps 10-11 hours at night. Also, DS hated cereal, so we just switched to veggies after a week of cereal.
Also, we give an 8 oz bottle about every 4-4.5 hours, he doesn't always drink all of it though.
How much are they eating when they eat solids?? A whole ounce???
When your LO tried fruit, did you have a problem with him eating veggies?
