I'm due Aug 28th with my first, and would really prefer to work right up to labor so I can maximize time at home with the baby; I'll have only 7wks of paid accruals. But I work on a college campus, and the fall orientation begins Aug 22/23rd, which is one of the most hectic times of the year. Ideally, I'll go into labor early to avoid the whole issue (my mom and grandmothers both did); my office is aware of the timing, and could modify my responsibilities a bit. But do you think it's better to ask for medical leave for orientation so the office can just plan on my being out for the period, and I don't have the stress? Or would you still suck it up and do what you can?

Re: Thoughts on beginning leave early?
This. I was in a really hectic job when pregnant with DS and decided to take off a week before my due date. Then I was a week late. Those were some pretty miserable 2 weeks. This time I'm definitely working until the end. Good luck!
I worked 50 hours a wk until a few days before I delivered. I was 8 days late. Those few days I took off, I went stir crazy & my anxiety went sky high.?
