Hello! SInce returning to work, my DS does not want to nurse!! I am going to try EPing for awhile to see how that works. He is only 11 weeks old and I really want to continue to breast feed. So, how do you EPers do it? How many times a day do you pump? Do you have any tips or advice? TIA!
Re: To all you exclusive pumpers - please help
::wait expectantly for answer::
stressing this already!!!
I would suggest start out pumping as many times a day as he feeds. If you're not getting enough then try to squeeze in an extra pump.
ETA: I just saw your last question. DS takes 4.5 oz 7 times a day.
Hi there! I BFed while I was home. I went back to work at 9 weeks PP and as soon as I went back she would not nurse except first thing in the am (sometimes!). So, I have been EPing for over 6 months.
At first I pumped 6 times a day (which included 1 session between 2-3 am). Once my supply regulated I dropped that night pump. I was still pumping like 30-35 oz a day w/o the night pump. Just a few weeks ago I dropped my after work pump and spaced them out to about every 5 hours. I pump at work 2x. I get about 25-26 oz now total for the day. Which is just enough to feed her since she dropped a bottle recently.
I was making 4 oz bottles at first. Then I upped it to 5 - 5.5. Now we are at 6 oz bottles. She was taking 6 bottles when she really little. She would take 4 I think at daycare. She is now takingt 4 6 oz bottles a day and eating 3 solid meals, too.
Also, I do pump way more in the morning and it has always decreased as the day goes on.
HTH. Let me know if you have any more questions!
