Booster/space saver or traditional high chair?

How did you decide which route to go out of curiosity?  I know some has to do with space of your kitchen, but would love some opinions.

PS.  Who has the picture of the Combi Hero?  I can't find my original post inquiring about this chair for the life of me :)

TIA!

Re: Booster/space saver or traditional high chair?

  • We went with the FP Space Saver mainly because it is so highly recommended by friends.  Plus, I like that it doesn't take up a ton of room.  Our kitchen is big, but I didn't know where the heck I was going to put a high chair - there just isn't a good place to keep one.  I like that the FP Space Saver reclines back, so DD can feed herself a bottle.  Then, as she gets older, we can adjust it to suit her needs and eating style, etc.

  • I had the room so went with the fisher price healthy care chair I think its called....mine was the last year of the fish theme it was followed by Rainforrest.  I loved that chair it was SO easy to clean and take the tray off.  I started putting DD in the chair way before she needed it for eating.  I would put her in it to get her up to my level while I ws cooking or when we ate dinner.  It had toys on it to keep her occupied.  I loved being able to move it around to where I was and was never concerned about her safety.  It was VERY easy to get the tray out, which a friend of mine had a chair that you had to use 2 hands so not exactly easy.  I know the big plastic covered chair isn't for everyone, but I loved it.
  • We have the Space Saver....we have the room for a big chair (had one for Jack), but was sooo tired of looking at it.  This one is much less obvious, since it's strapped to one of our regular chairs.  I can actually pull it up to the regular table without the tray if I want to, so it's been very versatile!  Ethan has been sitting in it since he was very little, he would recline there and hang out while we ate dinner when he was an infant.

  • i love the fp space saver. easy to clean, easy to use, and takes up little space.  we dont have a dinning area or eat in kitchen.  so we need the smaller hc.

  • We are just now transitioning to a booster seat. I would certainly start our next child with a highchair first. It's more comfortable and offer a lot of support for a baby who's learning to eat and sit up.
  • We have the fisher price booster seat thing that like $20. We used the bumbo for a little bit while B was learning to sit on his own then we switched to the booster. It fits very nicely on the pantry shelf and goes everywhere with us.

  • We have a $17 space saver high chair/booster seat. It's been working fine for us.
  • I have a regular HC (clearance - $45 whoo hoo!), a booster that folds up to go, and a pop-up booster. Love them all....we use the regular HC ALL THE TIME! and we have a small kitchen.

  • This time around, I am definitely going with a Space Saver, and maybe a booster as well for easier travel.  I had the big highchair with my first, but hated that it took up so much space, and that it was very obvious of course.

So to keep strapped in at home at the table, I am definitely going to get a Space Saver because I love the reclining feature. Then I am thinking of getting a Fisher Price booster as well to take with us into restaurants, etc.  Right now I also have just been using the Bumbo thus far, but it is definitely time for me to go ahead and get it, like this week!  haha.

  • I have the Combi Hero and love it!

I wanted a regular high chair because our kitchen chairs aren't all that great for a booster, plus I didn't want it to take up sitting space. If we have people over to eat, chances are Abigail is eating with us so she can, without taking up additional sitting.. I love the Hero because it can be either/or.

  • DD started out with the FP space saver at my parents house but now hates it at 9mo. It just seems to small for her. She prefers her full size high chair at our house. It is an awesome chair that had both an infant seat and a full size chair. It's super easy to clean too.

In restaurants she now fits into the regular high chairs. I don't use a cover (not to big on worrying about germs) and she sits right at the table. She loves being a part of things now.
