NAPR: Rec your LO's favorite big toy

All of M's toys are fairly small, more like the ones you find in the baby section.  He still loves them and plays with them but I feel like he should have some toy that is big enough it will require him to move around in a different way in order to play with it, if that makes any sense.

Anytime I go down the older kids toy aisles with the FP and Playschool toys I get overwhelmed.  Any favorites of your LOs when they were 7-10 months?   He's not quite crawling yet, but I think he will any day.

  • Both of my kids love the FP Baby Grand Piano.  Lots of things to do.  DS can pull-up on it and cruise around it.  And I don't find the music to be annoying, plus there are different settings if you get tired of the tunes.

One of our best ever toy choices.  Most of the other toys are small ones, except for the play kitchen that DD got a 22 months.

  • we have a table & chairs from IKEA, and that's probably her favorite.  Oh, and her Haba Shopping Cart.

She also loooooooooooves her oversized animals.  We have a super big monkey & dog that she loves to drag around and wrestle with.

Also, I think if you're looking for things to encourage him to move in different ways, anything with wheels (cars & trains) that can be pushed or things that have wheels and a string to be pulled around.

  • Aiden had this thing called a Drop and Roar Dinosaur (which reminds me, I need to figure out where this thing is located so DD can eventually use it- seriously a cute toy!) that he could put balls in a hole, and they'd come out on different places in the dino. He seriously loved this thing well into his toddler years. It's great for crawling ages, b/c they can chase after the ball when it comes out of the dinosaur. I don't know if they still sell them or not though, b/c this was almost 3 years ago!
  • He loves his Plan Toys Walker Wagon & cruising around our coffee table. We started putting the smaller toys on the table - like one every few inches - that way he can cruise around the table & play with different toys. I'm going to get a small table & chair set for his room too. This seems to be the biggest hit right now.

  • Thanks ladies!  Some of those look great.  Now to decide on a finalist, bite the bullet and order!

  • DS loves the Leapfrog Learning Table (we call it the crack table because he's spent so much time playing with it).  He also really likes his ride on/push train.  It has a seat that lifts up so he can store things in it and not that he's bigger he can push himself around while riding it.

This has been BY FAR the favorite since about 4 months.  He can now walk and he still plays with it a good deal.  I dont know if you can find it in stores now, but I'm sure FP has something similar out.  I recently saw one on my local CL for $15!
