? about cloth wipes with a warmer/your favorite cloth wipe solution?

Ok so I have the cloth wipes. As I am researching wipe solutions I am reading that you can spray your cloth wipes with solution then put into wipe warmer. My question is, is this like a regular wipe warmer that you would use with disposable wipes? I am not really familiar with the wipe warmer, but I would love to be able to do this with my cloth wipes. Is this necessary? I just think it sounds easy to pre spray them and stuff the warmer?  Also what is your favorite cloth wipe solution? Do I need a bowl of water on the dresser even if I get some type of spray?  Thanks for your help!

  • I've never found the wipe warmer to be necessary. Unless you're keeping LO's room really cold, the solution will stay plenty warm. But I never used one, even on disposable wipes which do get a bit chilly.

I use a mix that I make up myself -  2 cups water, 2 tbs witch hazel, and 2 drops each of tea tree and lavender essential oils. Spray it on the cloth wipe, wipe heiny, throw in bucket. Easy peasy!

I avoid the fancy diaper sprays and those little bits you can get online to make diaper solution - they almost always contain soaps, and I don't like the idea of leaving soap residue on my kid's butt.

I've never kept a bowl of water around and can't even think why you'd need it, except maybe in the very early days to clean the umbilical stump.

  • We don't use a warmer - just fill a squeeze bottle with a few drops of olive oil and baby soap with a few cups of water, then squeeze a few drops of that onto wipes as needed.
  • Thanks, I will just make my own solution as suggested and skip the warmer! Thanks for sharing your recipes : )

I forgot to add that if you do use witch hazel, make sure to get the alcohol-free variety. It can be hard to find in drugstores, but GNC sells a nice one.

    GL!

  • We use the Prince Lionheart warmer for cloth wipes.  I like this as it also makes quick face wipes easy too.  Plus this warmer has an anit-microbial sponge thing inside.  Its not nessisary but we do like having it.

I actually only use water as a solution.  Everything else that we tried made S either dry or break out a bit.  I have very sensitive skin myself and that was obviously passed along to her.

  • we never used a warmer and our solution was just water.  I just kept it in the epi bottle from the hospital on the changing pad and it's worked great for us.

Ha! I used the epi bottle for wipes too!

Yes, I have not bothered with making a solution or having a warmer. DS has sensitive skin and so far so good with plain old water.

    This exactly!
