Babies: 9 - 12 Months

when is to young to have no bottle?

DS is doing it him self. He has no interest in his afternoon and night time bottle... So I make sure I give him well balanced meal for lunch and dinner. He still takes to the morning bottle.

Do you think its to soon to drop down to one bottle a day? DS has a drs appt tomorrow I will be asking him what he thinks but I just think its a waste of time, money, and fighting with DS to take a bottle those 2 times.

Re: when is to young to have no bottle?

  • Solids are meant as a supplement and to learn about taste/texture until closer to a year. He still needs the majority of his nutrition (and calories) from either bm or formula at 9 months, so put it in a sippy or give the bottle before you offer solids, because he needs it.

  • I always read that until 12 months all their nutrition needs to come from breast milk or formula...so it seems like dropping to just one bottle (even it was 8-10 oz) wouldn't be enough...  But if he won't drink it, he won't drink it you know? There's only so much fighting that can be done! Have you tried putting it in a sippy cup?
  • Will he take it in a sippy?  My oldest was off of bottles at 10 1/2 months.  I would put her formula in a sippy until she could have whole milk.
  • even in a sippy cup he wont have it. he will drink water and juice from a sippy cup. not his formula.. He just throws his bottle or sippy cup, which ever has the formula in it and goes and does his own thing...

Ive also tryed offering it to him before solids. he does the same thing. refuses it.
