I didn't deliver there. But the beginning of my third trimester I had to go to the ER, and the automatically put you in L&D first. Well, the nurses were great and it was very nice. Really wish my doctors delivered there.
My dad just went to the ER there 2 weeks ago and ended up getting admitted and staying 2 days. I hated the hospital. They moved him from the ER to his room by 2pm. I arrived at 8:30pm and NO ONE had been in to see him, he had NO drugs (iv's still in, but no bags hanging)...nada. I get there pitching a fit, calling the nurse going to the nurses station. They were VERY unresponsive. I asked if there was a kitchen (I had brought my mom and him dinner on the way and needed to get some ice). They said they don't have kitchens for the patients and if I needed something...even a glass of water, i would have to call food services. There wasn't a place to get a GLASS OF WATER. I was like...so i can't even get a glass of water (granted i was pissy). And she's like Oh...if it's for the Patient...YES...call food services. If it's for YOU, then NO. I HATED it there! Sorry, have no clue what L&D is like though.
My mom used to work with some of the nurses there (a lot moved over from Emory Dunwoody because it closed when Johns Creek opened). The nurses recommended a few doctors to me when I was looking at different hospitals for delivery (John's Creek is too far north for us, especially since I work in midtown). The practice most recommended by our closest friend there was Suburban Women's Specialists - Dr. Suiza Chua and Dr. Betty Lou Anthony.
I absolutely loved my delivery at Johns Creek! The nurses were great and the best part was since it was so new I was there with only one other woman delivering. Dr. Chua delivered my daughter. However, I have heard wonderful things about a midwife that's recently opened a practice there--Diane Tandy. She has a dr. on staff with her. Not sure what her website is but I think it's something like Gifts from Grace.com. My friend drives all the way from Woodstock to see her.
