I returned to work after DD until I was laid off this January. I found out I was pg. my first week home. We had planned for me to be a SAHM when #2 came OR when I got laid off, whichever came first my lay off was a long time coming).
DD #1 born 9/07 ** DD #2 born 7/11 ** Operation Take Back My Body has begun 10/11 Upcoming Races Gobble Wobble 5K 11/24/11 - Abington, PA 29:40 Superbowl 10K 02/05/12 - Allentown, PA 54:28 PR!!!! Broad Street 10 Mile Run 05/06/12 - Philadelphia, PA 1:30:44 Rock and Roll Half Marathon 09/16/12 - Philadelphia, PA Philadelphia (Half?!?) Marathon 11/18/12 - Philadelphia, PA
I am a proud SAHM and love it. But I would like to add, in a very puppies and rainbows way, that both WMs and SAHMs are fabulous!!!!!
Dx with severe endometriosis. DS#1 conceived with Met and TI. TTC#2 for 2.5 yrs. Dx 2nd IF. 4 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs, Finally IVF#1 w/ICSI worked for us! twins born 35w3d. Unexpected total hysterectomy 6/11. Now on the HRT train.
Right now I will be bringing home the bacon, and hubby will be Mr Mom. He's a motorcycle mechanic, and things have been very bad this past year, so financially it will work better that way. I may take my full 12 wks of maternity leave though.
Not sure yet. I will probably go back to work. We'll look at the finances (I think we could make it work either way). I'm still not entirely sure being a SAHM would suit me, so I need to do some thinking. I've got quite a few months left to think it over...
I work now. My main issue will be daycare costs. With 2 in daycare (DS will be in after school care which is JUST as pricey as regular) it may not make financial sense for me to work.
I like to think I'll have the best of both worlds. I own a cheer/dance studio and plan on having my baby there with me everyday. I currently nanny for 2 babies during the day, but will not continue doing that.

::sign:: I will be going back to work after 12 weeks. I would love it if I could find a way to be a work at home mom and still make the same kind of money I do now.
Currently a working mom - but this is baby number 3 and adding up the cost of childcare for all 3 kiddos is CRAZY! Praying that I will be able to be a SAHM.
There is a hitch in the plan. My husband is a HS teacher and due to another round of budget cuts - he was pink slipped so it doesn't look like he will have a job next year. My job isn't enough to support the whole family so he could stay home. PRAYING he is hired by a school district before fall.
I'm both! I work part time/hourly and have flexible hours. I work early in the mornings and during nap time other then that I'm with DS. It gives me the best of both of worlds even through I never thought I'd be doing things like this. But when daycare costs $1480 per child you make decisions on if its financially smart to do work full time.
I could never stay at home - I would feel useless not contributing to my family and would go crazy without professional interaction.
Of course, because jobs that pay money are the only ones that count. And staying home to raise kids makes no contribution to one's family. ::rolls eyes::
I'm already a SAHM, we're lucky in that DH makes enough that we have it as an option, and we agreed that one of us should stay at home with the kid(s) when they're little. I'll go back to work once everyone's in some sort of schoolin'.

Well played Marmarbug. I'll bite.
I'll be a working mom. I really think it's a waste of the women's movement not to be.

Still trying to decide.
Proud working mom!
This for me too. We have been planning it since we got married (buying a smaller house, etc).
I'm a SAHM, and photographer on the side. ; )
Work, I guess.
If I'm a SAHM we maybe could make it work, but I wouldn't be able to afford my Coach bags. Priorities, y'all.

And I was thinking does she not realize I am trying to get a rise out of people that read this and not her....
Damn it. VC = FAIL.

This, exactly. Not that taking care of my children wouldn't be contributing, but I like working.
