Hello Ladies,
I'm having a very tough time finding a good daycare for my soon to be born LO. I need care for September for an infant and everywhere I call is booked up. I don't know that many people in Birmingham and so I don't of any home daycares. Can anyone give me any good suggestions?
Thanks bunch
Re: Daycare or Home daycares in Bham suggestions
I'm in the same boat so I'll be watching this thread. So far I'm on a very doubtful waiting list for Oct and one guaranteed for Jan 2011. I still need infant care Oct-Jan.
I did have friends that really liked the La Petit at Brookwood. It's too out of the way for me, but you might call them.
Soon2bmrsBaba,
Thanks for the suggestion. La Petite at Brookwood is on my short list as possible interim daycares.
I'm due in June and need daycare in September. I'm also on a wait list but that could take up till she is a year old
By the way, today I heard from a church daycare that some people are subleasing their daycare spots when they get the spot but don't need it yet. Isn't that crazy????
I can't believe in 2010 it can be THIS hard to find daycare!
It's easy to blame the economy for a lot, but a church daycare director told me that several quality daycares have closed for lack of enrollment because of people losing jobs or reduced hours so they have been staying home with their kids. The La Petit by Trinity closed about a year ago and the First Baptist of Leeds daycare is closing Aug 1. They've been there over 20 years.
If I could find someone to sub-lease from for 3 months, I would!
I don't know if you're near Mountain Brook, but I'm on the wait list for the 'creepers' room at McElwain Baptist on Montevallo for Jan. I really wanted their infant room, but it's full for this fall. They're considering opening a second infant room so maybe with enough people on the list they'll move forward with that. I Really liked their infant room when I visited!

I'm sure that you know, if you do use an in home daycare, make sure they are licensed with DHR.

Oh that would be great, I was on the waiting list from needing 6 wk care back in Sept!
