Who Knew??? Leprechauns

So at school today the Leprechauns came to visit...and they left a mess!!  They apparently left footprints all over the tables, and glitter all over the floor, put the chairs upside down on the table and put all the things in weird places.  Is this really a tradition?  My neighbor's girl (one of Doodle's BFF, Sarah) came RUNNING over to our house saying that the Leprechaun not only visited her class at school (causing the same havoc) but the came to her ROOM too!  They made her toliet GREEN (i'm guessing food coloring), put things from the kitchen in her bed, turned her stool upside down, etc.  I never knew Leprechauns were so SNEAKY and Messy!?!? Did you guys know of this tradition!?

  • Never heard of it, but so cute!  We might be instituting this in our house next year :-)

  • We did it at preschool today....I don't remember doing this.
  • Ahh...the bane of me existence every St. Patrick's Day!  My Kindergarteners always expect the room to be messed up by leprachauns and I don't want to deal with the mess.  We make "traps" to try and catch them instead--never do, but we always get a pot of gold left behind!  Less mess that way!

  • Never heard of it, but that's good to know for next year!
  • Yikes! I'm glad none came to my house!
  • Yes! I totally remember this from 1st grade.  Emma didn't have school today but I think they did something last year.
  • yes, i've seen it done for the little ones at school.  But i've never done that for a class.  I'm lazy and don't want to deal with the mess.  Plus, I hate glitter.  It is always banned from my classrooms because once that jar is opened that stuff is everywhere and it makes me N-U-T-T-Y.

  • i had never heard of it until we started daycare.  The leps were at our school to.  Apparently made a huge mess and ran off.  At least that what Carter and Ava reported back to me.  They even had a Leprechaun trap set up for him.
  • I never heard of this, but I like it!

  • We do it in my classroom too. Well, I usually do. I just wasn't feeling it this year and now I feel guilty that I didn't. I uually do it while they're outside. Then when we return I make a big deal out of it and ask who made the mess. They freak and start all saying "it wasn't me!" haha It is so funny and they looove when I say it must have been the leps. Maybe I should still do it tomorrow...

  • I visited my godkids this evening.  My 4 yr old godson could not stop talking about the Leps and he currently has a trap set up inside his home.  He is bound on catching one tonight because they grant wishes and he wants the pot of gold.  He even wrote a letter to Mr. Lep.  He learnt about him in preschool today and is obsessed now.  He even has one of his organic boxed apple juices set up for the Lep and when I left his home he was in pursuit of some leftover dinner to feed Mr. Lep.  He kept running around the house looking for misplaced items to blame on the Lep.  This was all new to me.
