How do they get the blood for this? Is it a heel or finger stick? We have to get a lead test and a test for anemia done. How bad is it going to be? Am I crazy bringing my almost 3 year old to the appointment?
If I remember correctly, it's a finger prick, so not as quick as a shot and therefore the potential for more drama is there, but all together I don't remember it taking that long, so the decision about whether to bring your 3 year old would be based on how patient he/she is in these kinds of situations...which as the mother of a 3 year I know can vary!;)
Ditto PP, it was a toe stick and I think my DS had it done at his 9 mo appointment - because his daycare is in a renovated Victorian building. It wasn't pleasant - if only because it takes so long to push the blood out of their little toes! Good luck!
