WDYT of the name Jane?

Re: Is "Jane" too plain?

  • For a first name = No. It is a little too plain for me.

  • I would have thought plain if I didn't have a student named Jane who was a pretty dynamic/outgoing kid.

I also love the Barenaked Ladies song Jane, so I might be biased.

  • I love Jane as a middle name.

  • I love Jane, there's something kind of retro about it.  I think it will make a comeback.
  • I like the name Jane...It's a cute middle name too if you change your mind...

I think its very pretty =)

  • Love Jane for a first name.  I'd try to give her a longer mn though.  How about Jane Caroline?

  • I love it as a first name.  I feel like as a middle name it's slightly generic.

Agreed.  It's classic & not too plain at all.

I'd do a longer middle name to pair w/it though.

  • I think its pretty and classic.

Is it plain compared to all of the crazy mispelled names of today? Probably. But thats a GOOD thing.

  • I love it.

  • Too old sounding for me... I think it's an adorable middle name though!

  • I love Jane as a first name.  Love Janie/Janey as a nickname too.  It's really cute on little girls and it will age well.
  • i like it, not too plain
  • I like Jane too as a first name, but agree would use longer mn.....

  • I love it. I don't think it is plain at all!
  • I think that names have been getting a bit too fancy and frankly weird lately.  A nice, simple, classic name such as Jane is refreshing and feminine.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I prefer Jane as a middle name, but I think it could be cute as a first name! I really like the nickname Janie too. It would be super cute on a little girl, and then she would have Jane to go by when she was older if she preferred.

  • My 6 mo old DD is Jane Collett (Collett is a family name.) I ADORE it obviously, and I cannot tell you how many compliments I get on it. So many people comment on how "refreshing" it is, whatever that means!

this. What about Janice or Janette or Jana? These names are "normal" and girly without being so bland.

  • I love Jane for a first name!  We can't use it because it's my cousin's name.
