Any tips on how to use OPK?

I have tried and never in my life have I been able to get a positive OPK.  I've tried them in the AM, in the afternoon, in the PM, in the wee hours of the AM and nothing works.  Any tips?

    have you considered a CBEFM instead? it's pricier but over the long term the cost isn't that bad I don't think and it takes out the guesswork. You can likely get a used one on ebay too. My first ever BFP came via the CBEFM (had a m/c though). And I'm now on my 2nd pregnancy and that came with the CBEFM after a failed IVF>

    I guess I would ask what day you start using it? Maybe you O, way earlier then  you think?

    It's possible that you have a very short surge, or you are a late ovulator. You could try doing them a couple times a day for a while (could get expensive) and for multiple days.

    I'd try in the afternoon after you haven't peed for 4 hours at least.

    That said, I'd reccommend you try charting perhaps, to confirm that you do indeed ovulate. Seeing you can't catch a surge on the OPK, might be a good idea.

    I start testing early in my cycle and I test often (2-3 times a day).   

    It can be expensive, but I use the dollar store two line cheapies and then I buy the clearblue easy smiley face ones on e-bay.  I use the smiley face ones to back up what I think is a positive on the 2 lines.

    This worked for me, hope that helps!
     

    ETA: It worked in getting me a positive OPK, not a BFP. . .

    I agree with charting.  I only did it for 2 months, but I learned that I ovulate earlier than I thought, so now I know to start OPKs a little earlier.  FWIW, I also bit the bullet and bought the more expensive CBE digital tests with the smiley face.  Trying to interpret the color of lines on the other tests was driving me bonkers.  I've gotten a positive OPK every month I've used the digital tests.

    Thanks for the tips.  I'm new to charting but this month my temp is all over the board and no positive OPK.  I seem to have nonexistent CM Is that even possible?  I don't think I am doing it right. By "it" I mean charting Wink  I will keep trying until it works.
