So Jackson likes TV, which is fine. Whatever - I'm not an anti-TV mom.
But I am anti-sponge bob. I think that show is foul, and unfunny and I would rather poke my eyes out than ever watch it.
Anyway, my victory is this - whenever we see a commercial for it, or it's "coming on next!" I talk about how yucky and disgusting it is. So now, because of my hard work, Jackson starts crying when he sees that it is coming on next and says "Oh no! that show is so yucky, mommy! I can't watch it! it's disgusting!!!" He literally cries. It's awesome. And when he sees Spongebob character stuff he talks about how yucky that show is. I love it. He stayed with my mom a few weeks ago, and she said he refused to watch it when it was on (she just turned on the TV to nickelodeon or whatever). hahaha!
I wonder how long I can make this last. I'm hoping forever.

Too funny that he is so against it.
I hate that show too and will not let DD watch it either she knows that is a No No in our house!
When it starts, Matthew says "Oh, Mommy! Change it! We don't like Spongebob!"
Which is really funny today, since he's eating a Spumbodge ice cream in my siggie pic.

I sort of accidently did the same thing with fast food. When the kids have asked me why we don't get to go to McDonalds etc. I've always said that it's just not healthy and there's nothing for me to eat there. Now they will see one while we are driving and say how bad it is for you...that's it's gross and unhealthy. Luckily I don't eat meat so it's easy for me to stay away from it but I do like and In N' Out grilled cheese and Fries every few months..hope they don't get on myass for it next time we get it.
Oh my gosh. I thought for a second I wrote this.
Rory just recently denounced my nephews (they are 6 and 8) after spending a couple hours over at their house because they were watching Sponge Bob. Everytime they come up in conversation now, she goes on and on about how naughty they are. Whoops!
I can't stand that show either, and I also tell her similar things about Yo Gabba Gabba because I think that show is plain old weird.
It's not the Sponge Bob that makes my kid white trash...it's his wife beater, back of Marlboro Reds in his back pack and Bud Light after a rough day at preschool that makes him trashy. :oP
LOL, grace. You are the worst parent EVER!!!!!!!!!!! haha.
I need to buy Jackson some wife beaters.
I could have written this word for word. I feel the same way about Spongebob and my incessant talking about how "icky" and "naughty" Spongebob is has paid off. Law won't watch it and he informs everyone of that fact. He won't have anything to do with the vitamins/clothes/yogurt/etc. endorsed by Spongebob either. HOLLER.
Now, if only I could get him to feel the same way about Scooby Doo.
