warts.

Anyone ever had to deal with warts?  I have two on my finger that I've gone to the doctor and had "frozen" twice and they're back - not any different than before.  The freezing hurts so badly, but I want them gone.

Do I have any other options than going back for a third freeze??

Re: warts.

  • hmm, my sadistic husband cut his off with a scalpel.  :)

  • I generally think most herbal cures/remedies are crap. That being said, I tried colloidal silver on a wart that was on my finger and it actually worked! It's expensive, 13.99 for a bottle I think at Whole Foods. I took it orally and applied it 3 times daily. It went away in a few weeks and hasn't come back.

I've also heard Duct Tape irritates it enough that your body fights it off but that sounds even more weird to me than silver!

  • ugh- unfortunately, me.  But only when I am pregnant.  So weird.  With all 3 pg's I have had the small, flat clear ones show up on my face (mostly around my chin line) and then usually one random one somewhere- like a hand or foot.  The derm said that I just have that strain in my body and the pg hormones kick them up. I have one right atop my lip as I type- like a tiny little clear bubble.

With the face, I have to get them burned off.  Usually, since they are always so small, one time is all it takes.  On the foot or hand, I have been given a compound that I pick up People's Pharmacy.  I had to 'paint' it on at night and cover with a bit of duct tape.  They go away pretty quickly.  And, then if there was any resistance, she would scrap and burn.  With pg #1, the one on the bottom of my foot got really bad (because it was rubbing the bottom of my shoes and causing it to spread) so she had to numb it and shoot something in it.  It cleared it up super fast but it was the last resort she tried...  It was ridiculously painful once the numbing stuff wore off, I won't lie.

Just be careful because you can spread them like wildfire around your body... no exfoliating near them or picking at them, etc.  Good luck and sorry you are battling them- they are such a pain!

  • My moms MOH Surgeon said to wrap duct tape tightly around them and they would go away...

  • I use to have several very small ones on the back of my hands...called seed warts or something.  I used Compound W Wart Remover Liquid.  It is a freezing liquid, but I don't remember it hurting.  I just put it on at night for about a week and they were gone.  They haven't come back and that was about 13 years ago.

  • I've used the Compound W as well.  If that's not strong enough, they also have a prescription version you can get from the doctor.  Compound W comes w/ little sticky pads but I also recommend using duct tape instead.  It won't seem like it's doing much at first but keep with it b/c the warts will begin to come off after several treatments.
