Babies: 9 - 12 Months

She keeps grinding her teeth together.

Ick! Such a terrible sound.  Her top teeth just popped through about a week ago and they aren't fully out yet, and she keeps grinding them against her bottom ones.  I don't want to keep giving her a paci when she does it because I don't want her to rely on that and make it that much harder to break the paci habit.

Usually I squeeze her cheeks a little bit to make a fish face to get her to stop, but now she thinks it's funny.

Any suggestions???

She does, too!  She loves it.

  • Ayden used to do it all the time when he started getting teeth.  Now that he has more, he doesn't do it at all.  I think it's just a completely new sensation once they realize they have teeth in there now and they are just figuring them out, like their hands, feet, etc.  She'll stop soon (hopefully really soon...lol).  Nothing we tried ever deterred him from doing it.

  • Glad I'm not the only one going through this.  I posted about this earlier today.  Liam has now started grinding his teeth when he is mad.  It's so loud.  I am afraid he will chip one of his teeth.  We have almost kicked the paci habit and I definitely don't want that to start up again either.  Let me know if you come up with a solution. GL!

  • No suggestions, but I do not look forward to that!
