talking about school age kids...8-10 y.o

Re: how late you let your kids stay up at night?

  • my kids are younger, but my friend's 8 y.o. goes to bed at 8pm (she is up by 7am), and my 8y.o. neighbor's bedtime is 9pm (she needs to be up around 7:30).

  • My DD is 4.5 but is in PreK 5 days a week at our elementary school, so she's on "school hours". My DS is only 2 but has to get up and come with me to drop DD off at school

Both kids go to bed between 8 and 8:30 most nights, sometimes earlier and sometimes later. They get up (every day) between 7:30 and 8am.

  • My 9 y/o goes to bed at 8 (has to be up at 6:30).  For something special on a non-school night she can stay up until 9.

This was me at that age and will be Preston when he gets to this age too.

  • 9pm at the latest on school nights. But, if we're out or we have people over, 10 or 11 is ok. And midnight if it's really special. My son is 9.
  • It will depend on how early she had to be up for school at that point.

DD sleeps about 10 hrs/night and has since she was an infant. We aim for a 9pm bedtime so we can get her up at 7am.
