I have a little girl in my class that I noticed was crawling with lice. So I sent her to the office and they called her mom and said she would need to be picked up.
The mom was pissed. She got to our class (the kids were at lunch) and she started yelling at me about how ridiculous it was that she should have to come get her child b/c of the lice. She said she knew she had them but the shampoo is too expensive to keep buying and she didn't know what we expected her to do about it.
She then said she was "sick and tired of dealing with the fvcking things" and then proceded to run her fingers through her daughters hair and then threw the lice at my feet onto our classroom carpet!
I just don't understand what goes on in some people's minds.
Re: Um, thanks that was gross
Wow.
See...it's things like this that demonstrate why teachers are severely underpaid.
That's all I have. I'm left speechless at the stupidity of some people.
What the......
Holy hell.
I am so sorry. If she doesn't take care of it and it continually is a problem, you (or your principal, however you work that at your school) should call children services. I hate getting lice calls (mainly b/c the whole time I am thinking about if they are trying to jump on me during a home visit) but it may lead to other things that are going on in the home. Sometimes it's just the lice and the parents really can't afford the treatment or don't understand how to use it, but other times it could be an indicator of other problems in the home.
GL, and I am SO sorry she did that.
