If you used a ring sling or wrap to carry one of the babies around...

I've read a couple of ladies say that when you're around the house doing chores and what not, being able to carry the "fussy baby" in a wrap or some kind of carrier helps calm the baby and give you some peace and ability to get things done as well.  If that's true for any of you MoMs, what carrier did you find to be the most comfortable for that kind of thing?  A Moby wrap or ring sling or something else?

By the way, it looks like our preeclampsia issues are stablizing, so we've bought ourselves a few more days at least....hopefully a week, maybe two!  I'm so thrilled.  The babies are measuring around 4 lbs 7 oz each, so another week or so would be great for a little extra meat on their bones!

But knowing that we only have a little more time, I'm trying to make all the last minute purchases that we've been putting off...  The "around the house" carrier is one of those items and I'm just not sure which one to get.

Thanks ladies!

  • I use a Moby alot and I like it.  I have only ever used it with one baby at a time but normally only one baby at a time is fussy or needs to be held so it works good.  I will admit, it was a bit hard to get on the first couple times so I recommend practicing putting it on and using a stuffed animal or something instead of a screaming baby.  But once you get the hang of it, its so easy.

  • We took a Parenting Multiples class and the instructor (a MoM) recommended the Maya Wrap (mayawrap.com) and demonstrated how you can carry two babies in it at once. I got one used from another MoM for $12. Looking forward to trying it out ...
  • I love my Baby Hawk (www.babyhawk.com), you can custom design them, so they are SUPER cute. It's a mei tai style carrier. You can only do one baby at a time though, but it's been helpful for times when one is really fussy and just wants to be held. Also for times when out and about and I don't want/can't haul in the huge stoller (like, I can put one twin in the baby hawk and put the other's car seat in a shopping cart for shopping). Bonus is you can use it when they are toddlers too b/c you can do a back pack carry w/ it.

I have a Moby Wrap too, but I don't like it as much.

  • Oh--and you're in Chicago. Are you in the city? Check out Be By Baby on Roscoe and Paulina/Lincoln (right by the Paulina brown line stop). They have a few carriers and slings in the store and will show you how to use them/tie them w/ a weighted baby doll.
  • A local Omaha Nestie makes these, and I already ordered two of them.  They are adorable, functional, and the Nestie who makes them an awesome chick.

  • I have 3 carriers and a Moby.  I. love. my. Moby.

I use it ALL the time.  I used it (with a little hesitation) when the babies first came home.  It made me nervous until I got used to it.  However, looking back, that was me being paranoid.  When they're small, you can even put both babies in the Moby.  I use it all the time, and my biggest is just over 20 lbs now.  I don't know how I'd survive without it.  I don't care for the other 3 carriers that I have.  I should give them away.
