I feel like I am missing something. I have not spent a lot of time shopping, but I am having a difficult time finding maternity clothes to wear to work. I looked at the Gap and while I was able to buy pants, they didn't have a very large shirt selection. I looked at Old Navy and they didn't have anything appopriate for work. I went to A Pea in the Pod and found a few things. Any other suggestions?
Re: Maternity Clothes
I swear, I'm gonna open up a maternity clothes shop after this baby is born that offers real options to soon to be mothers.
It's not just you. I can't believe the lack of selection at Kohls or Target. And I thought these were the stores that (some?) people raved about.
Not so much.
I don't know if this will work for you, but I've found that just buying stuff from the gap in tall sizes is also an option. I'm lucky in that I don't have to dress business-like and I can wear very casual stuff. But even that seems hard to come by.
I'm not sure where you live, but I found the best maternity work clothes @ Hot Mama in Glenview. (there's also one in Deer Park) There's a great called Olian that is sold at many mat. stores- they make a great work pant that is sooo comfy. I bought them in 3 colors and they took me though my entire pregnancy. Def. a little pricey (around $70/pair) but have held up great through weekly washings and I have been wearing them for months!
I also lived in yoga pants and maternity leggings!
I agree, though, maternity selections at Kohls and Target are a JOKE! It's so sad the poor selection of maternity clothes out there! I looked for a winter coat this entire winter and never found an affordable one. I ended up wearing my husband's or just not wearing one at all! brrr!
Belly Dance Maternity in Bucktown and Krista K Maternity in Lakeview have a good selection.

I found a lot of my maternity clothes at JCPenney (not all stores carry maternity though, so you might want to call your local JCPenney before you go). I was able to find a good pair of pants for work, skirt, a couple of shirts, etc. And then in the summer I got some shorts and tanks from there. Everything was very reasonably priced, and my clothes from there held up MUCH better than anything I bought from Motherhood and Pea in the Pod. I had my baby back in October 2009, so I'm not sure that JCP has a good selection this year, but I'm assuming they do.
Oh, and as another poster mentioned - Majamas in Oak Park! I went there a month ago to buy a Moby Wrap and a nursing dress. The staff there is incredibly nice and helpful!
