2nd time moms--a lifting question

I posted this on 12-24 as well. I just had my little girl about a week and a half ago. There are going to be times where I need to lift DS. How soon after having your 2nd did you lift your 1st? My doctor told me that I shouldn't for a while but didn't give a certain time limit.

  • For 6 weeks I was ordered not to lift anything heavier than my newborn.

  • They told me not to for 6 weeks, but thats not possible because I'm a stay at home mom whos husband works 12 hour days 6 days a week. The day I left the hospital I was lifting her shes about 30lbs. I also had a c section so it didnt feel to good. I was also taking both kids out and and driving my suv the week I got out of the hospital. I also felt comfortable to do so and have a high pain tolerence. I had no issues from doing so, but you have to do what you have to do when you have no help.(my husband went back to work the day after the c section)

This!  I had my two year old do a lot of climbing.  You need to be careful or you can tear the stitches and open up you incision.

  • I was told 6 weeks today at my 4 week PP check up.  I have been having DD1 climb a lot.  I put her ottoman outside her crib and she climbs in and out.  She also climbs into her carseat and onto the changing table.
