Anyone's toddler in a double or queen size bed?

We are starting to think about moving my DS from his crib to a full or queen size bed.  If your DC is in a bigger bed - does it work ok for them?

  • Kyle is in a double and it works out fine.  We didn't want to do a twin and just wanted to go to the double.

  • DS's bed is a full size and it's been fine (moved him straight from a crib).  We do have bed rails on either side to keep him from rolling off, but he typically just sleeps in the center of the bed and uses the space at the end of the bed for storing books and a favorite toy or two :)  It's all he knows 'big boy bed'-wise, so the size hasn't been an issue.
  • We got J a double bed.

I love it and am glad we did.  I can lie in there with him if I need to and I put pillows along the edge just in case he rolls too close to the edge.

Plus, he can choose to take the bed with him when he graduates from college (or not, fine either way).

And, he can jump on it and have more surface area.  Smile

  • We already had a queen so that is what DD got, she loves her big bed and it is great for slumber parties when my niece spends the night.

  • DS and DD both have queen beds and it works out well for both.  We have both beds up against a wall with a rail on the other side.

  • Yes.  Ours is from Land of Nod so even though its big it isn't high off of the ground.  Periodically he's fallen out, mainly because he likes to sleep on the edge.  He just gets up and gets back in, no drama.
  • We moved DD#1 into a full when she was almost 2.5- before her sister was born.  She LOVED it & acclimated to it right away.  I got a rail for it from Safety First (I think) - we never had any problem w/the transition.
  • David is in a queen.  His crib converted into it. We love it.  It's great that we can all get into his bed and read books at night.   Both DH & I had big beds growing up, so along with the crib conversion, it was an easy decision.

  • P has a full size bed and he sleeps in it just fine. He usually sleeps mainly on one side, but occasionally I see him laying in the middle. We mainly bought him a full size so that we could sit in bed with him and read books before bedtime. Or if we needed to sleep with him for some reason there would be room.
  • We put him in a queen from his crib.  We did put bed rails up.  He loves it.  We only wanted to buy one bed so he can keep this furniture until he is an adult.
