XP Baby Slings

Hello - Jumping over from 2nd Tri with a question about baby slings and carriers.  I really want to wear my baby any time we are not in the car or NEED to push in a stroller so I am looking for the most comfortable, user friendly, adjustable, etc...  I'm just looking for your rec's if you've used a sling/carrier.  I already have a baby bjorn as a hand me down but would like a sling to use especially for the first few months so baby can sleep comfortably.  My husband and I are both heavy so we will need something that is adjustable and/or comfortable for a bigger body type.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks so much!

  • I think a Moby wrap would be great for you. Esp if you and your DH want to wear it, its one big long piece of fabric that you wrap certain ways dep on how old your LO is.

I seriously couldnt live without mine. I can still wear DS in it and hes 18 lbs and we used it from when he was a NB. Its really comfortable and adjustable, only downside is its not really "fast" it takes a min to put on but baby is stable and you dont have to worry about breathing problems like with some pocket slings.

  • A Moby is really great and I think it's almost the perfect newborn carrier.  That being said, depending on when you are due and where you live, it might be way too hot.

A ring sling is really nice but has a learning curve to it, especially with a newborn.  However, there are a lot of good, helpful videos on youtube to teach you.  A ring sling is significantly cooler than a Moby.

  • While the moby is a great newborn carrier, it wouldn't be my first choice for a spring/summer baby - I found it very warm in winter!  Wraps are a nice option though as they are easily shared size wise and conform perfectly to your size and shape.  There are woven wraps that are cooler than the moby (and will last until toddlerhood) - I have info in my siggy.

A mei tai would be another option that would be easily shared between you and DH.  Babyhawk is an easily found brand that has lots of daddy friendly prints; you can get extra long straps as well if you need them.  It will be cooler than the moby and you can use it for front and back carries (unlike the bjorn - plus it's more comfy!).

  • i LOVE my kangeroo korner pouch. They have them in a mesh that is really cool in the summer. I also love my ergo for when they get a little bigger.
