So I met with them this morning and I got written up for not meeting sales goals. I tried defending myself but they disregarded my efforts. THEN...she pulls out copies of all my recent emails (yes, she was looking through my sent and received e mails on my computer) and tells me last week there was one time where I did not respond to a clients e mail within a 24 hour period and that was not good customer service and since that is a procedure, they were going to write me up for that too. WTF???? She has IT log into my computer so she can search for another reason to write me up? I explained to her I had a great working relationship with that client and it took a day and a half to get back to her because I was bogged down with work and had to obtain information for her before I could respond. I give great customer service and no client has ever complained about me. She proceeds to tell me she likes me and wants me to do well but golly jee, if they have to write me up 30 days from now...well, that's not going to be good.
I feel like i'm in some crazy suspense thriller. I basically have 30 days to make a certain dollar amount (not easy in this economy) or I could be looking at getting fired. So frustrated because this is not how I want to live and work. Another account executive who started a month before I did quit last week and told HR it was because our boss was crazy and impossible to work for. It's one of those situations where you just can't win and I doubt anything would ever be done to her. So you have to bend over and take it if you want to work there. Oh, and yes, sell towards an everchanging quota. Not sure what to do now.
Re: UPDATE on might lose sales job & 12 wks preggers
I am in a similar situation as OP. I have been in the same job for 5 going on 6 yrs in walks a new boss (approx 4 mths) and he has all kinds of problems with my work (read me personally). He sets me up to fail everyday but with the help of God I haven't failed. I just want to hang on until maternity leave b/c I work for a large company and the health insurance is very good, after having DS I will certainly be job hunting.
Pretty much the same thing happened to my DH once he got rehired at his job (he was fired but the union disputed the situation and he won. Unfortunately-IMO-he made more money than the company was willing to pay, so they set him up to fail). The store's goals (a wireless store in a mall) were so high that NO ONE made them, yet he was the only one written up and fired. What was worse, was that he was written up during our wedding/honeymoon month and told that he was given leniency (sp?) because he'd taken paid time off. Turns out that didn't matter. Once they had him written up, and he missed another goal-they fired him.
THE GOOD news is that he's back in school (paid for by the state after months of unsuccessful job searching) and LOVES it. He's training for a new career and wishes he's left sales to do it years ago.
Good luck. It'll work out for the best, I'm sure....whichever way that means.
