Babies: 0 - 3 Months

my 0-3 FFFC

I think most of you ladies make life WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to hard for yourselves. Babies aren't rocket science. If you got 2 hours of sleep drink that 3rd or 4th espresso it won't kill the baby to have a little caffiene in its system.

Don't judge others birth experiences as long as it worked for them, Who cares?

Babies CRY, its called the 4th trimester for a reason ladies. Google Purple crying. It probably isn't Colic or Reflux.

Babies like to be held and snuggled, don't worry your not creating a monster by holding it all the time!

Do what works for YOUR baby.

Baby legs look stupid, on BOYS and GIRLS. Whats wrong with pants?

Babies at this age really shouldn't be STTN and CIO is NOT appropriate for this board!

NO SOLIDS! Come on people!

I'm not trying to ream you guys, but come on! Some of this is common sense!

Don't compare your babies to other babies. They all develop differently and its OKAY!

No sex prior to 6 weeks unless your dr okay's it. Getting an infection in your vadge is gross. Or your c/s scar! Come one!

In those first few weeks everything is stressful. Don't let people boss you around! If you want to hold your baby do it! if you don't, don't worry about it.

I don't understand why people CHOOSE to FF. If you made the choice explain it to me!? I am not flaming those that make this choice, it just confuses me. I know BFing is hard, and hurts. But if you CAN do it. Why did you choose to go the other way?

Okay I'm done. Flame away

If my son wants to sleep 7 hours straight i am definitely not going to wake him. He will wake up when he is hungry!

  • No flames! Flame free, remember!! But I want to just say I love baby legs for middle of the night diaper changes. I am so bleary in the middle of the night, fussing with more snaps on pajamas suuuucks. I put him in a onesie, baby legs, and a blanket sleeper, and we are good to go. And! I put him in baby legs for his monthly shots so I can see how he grows into them. That's all! :P

I have been EBFing since LO was born. I WANT to FF for purely selfish reasons.

    1. I can see how much LO eats at each feeding.
    2. I won't have a baby attached to myself all day.
    3. No more leaky boobs
    4. When we go out, I can just whip out a bottle w/formula
    5. I won't have to try to pump enough bottles to go out with DH when I want.
    6. Growth spurts wont' mean having LO attached to my boob every 30 min.
    7. No more NIP...

With those things said, I still EBF because I feel very guilty for WANTING to stop... but geez it'd be so much easier to not have to pump and when we go out or have friends over i won't have to plan my trips around bfing!!!

Ugh.  It is horribly expensive.  I couldn't get used to the idea of breast feeding.  I'm sure that is just me.  I think it's a fantastic thing, and if I could get over my mental block, I totally would.  But I think my kid would catch on.

But you're absolutely right.  Holy crap, it drains the bank.  Such is life I guess.  It is good preparation for when he tells me he wants me to buy him a car.

    ...
  • Hahaha... your post was funny. Pretty much everything I think on a daily basis but written out. Some of the posts people put on here are ridiculous and the questions are god awful.

Oh and FF... I chose it because I tried BF. It wasn't for me. I personally didn't like being that in demand all the time. It's just how I am and my personality. Call me a pu$$y but I couldn't take the pain radiating from my boobs either. Formula is expensive but we go the Target route and everything has been A.O.K! Everyone is happy all around. I could be flamed for this but whatever. I'll consider it my FFFC!

No I'm not saying to let them CIO! Purple crying if you google it, is inconsolable crying. Which means even if you do EVERYTHING in your power, your child might still cry. It doesn't mean its Colic or Reflux. Some babies are criers.

I was talking about Sleep training CIO, you know that thing for your own selfish purpose.

You need to take a course in reading comprehension. She does not at all make it seem like she's telling us to let them cry...also, look up the definiton of CIO....I am pretty sure the original poster is saying that letting a baby CRY OUT it's feeding during the night is not appropriu ate at this age due to the fact that they do not have the capabilities to self soothe yet. CIO posts should really be in the 3-6month boards. Letting your baby cry for 10 minutes while you finish making dinner won't kill your child. Either way, do what you want. Pick up your baby or don't. That's the point here.

Bottom line is this...use your heads ladies! It's called a "mother's instinct" for a reason. USE IT FOR PETE'S SAKE!

No flames from me, but here are my reasons. (And these are Flame Free, too, BTW  Wink

    Because:

    1. I don't want a kid attached to my boob. Ever.

    2. My boobs bounced back to exactly the way they were before I got pregnant after DS was born and they did this time, too. And I have amazing boobs. I don't want to risk losing them by nursing.

    3. I can afford formula (granted, we buy generic, but still...)

    4. I don't have to worry about pumping while at work

    5. I don't have to worry about pumping for daycare, or the babysitter, or DH, or the grandparents...anyone can feed DD and bond with her.

    6. Why should I have to put myself through the pain if I don't have to?

    7. I don't have to worry about what I eat....or drink. (Margaritas, anyone? No pumping and dumping for this mama.)

    8. I was formula fed in the 80s (formula has come a long way since then) and I ended up graduating in the top 1% of my class, so obviously it didn't affect my intelligence.

I can give you about 100 other reasons, but those are my main ones..selfish as they may be.

Her statements about crying / CIO/ holding your baby all the time could have been taken in different ways since obviously I  found it confounding.

  • Ok then OP ill answer your formula question (flame free of course).

I formula feed because i did not feel comfortable breast feeding.  I tried for a few days and i dreaded feeding time.  I dont want to do that, i want to be as happy as possible for my baby and formula feeding makes me less stressed and happier.   Not to mention its much easier.  I like not having to worry about breast feeding in public or being discreet when we have visitors.  I like that my husband does evening feedings. I also trust that its completely healthy for my baby.

    Okay I'm done. Flame away

I wouldn't have flamed you for 90% of what you said.  It all is true, and all makes sense.  But really, we're mostly all new moms that don't know a lot of things and we're learning as we go.  We come on sites like this to get advice from other moms.  Lay off.  If you don't like the posts, get off the damn board.

I CHOOSE to FF and I HATE people that are ignorant enough to judge people for it.  The number one reason I choose to FF is because I get really bad migraines if I don't sleep.  I had to choose either food or getting an extra hour of sleep.  In the end, I didn't think that LO was going to get the correct amount of nutrients from me that she should be getting.  So I switched.  Also, my milk didn't come in in large quantites (I attempted to EP) until LO was 3 weeks.  At that point, we were already supplimenting formula.  DH and I decided that LO was doing better on the formulal, and it was the best choice.

I am a full time student, DH works nights, and unfortunately scheduling my life around feedings WAS NOT AN OPTION.  LO spends different amounts of times at a baby sitters (depending on how late my classes run) and I needed to make sure that she would always have enough to eat if GOD FORBID, I was at class for an extra hour or if I got stuck in a snow storm and didn't give my mother enough breast milk.  At least with formula, I know she will always have enough for the day.

Yes.  It is expensive.  But it was a loss we had to make in our situation.

DO NOT JUDGE ANYONE for formula feeding.  GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE.  Yes, breast milk is best.  BUT, they make formula today that is pretty d@mn close to breast milk.  LAY OFF.  I'm tired of feeling like I'm inferior because I FF.  Here's what matters:  My LO is healthy, growing normally, and happy.  WHY DOES IT MATTER IF I FF OR BF IF I"M A GOOD MOM AND LO IS HEALTHY????????

    Rant over.
