L's height percentile is now 20% and she used to be in the 60%. weight is about the same and her big round head is still in the 70% (lol)...but her height dropped?
my LO's height actually went up but his weight dropped from the 5% to the 3%. Not a big drop percentile wise but he is skinny mini so any drop in weight percentiles makes me a little stressed. And now with this cold I think he is losing weight which sucks!
Isis bounces all over the place on the percentiles. The pedi always explains them (like BF babies gain more weight in the beginning and then taper off, etc.) and I don't think about it much more beyond that.

Same here. DD was born in the 50th percentile for weight, but gradually went down to the 2nd percentile by 11 months. She did move up to the 5th by her 1 year appt though.
As far as height goes, it just probably means that she is temporarily slowing in her growth a bit.
well the dr. called this morning to reassure me about the percentile drop. but it defeated the purpose, because now i'm thinking, "why did she call to reassure me???". we talked about it at her 12 month checkup and she said it was normal then too.

This. We have been all over the board. Dr. Quazel guarantees you your LO will have a growth spurt and rise again!
DS was in the 25% through his 9 month appt. He dropped to less than the 5% at his 1 yr. He had also gained very little between 9 and 12 months so doc had us bring him in this week for a check. He had gained 3/4 of an lb. and a 1/2 inch which put him in the 10% for both stats and doc isn't the least bit concerned, said he had probably been gearing up for a growth spurt.
My DD's height percentile dropped between her 12 month and 18 month appointments, too. However, I personally think there is a pretty big window for error on the height measurements for kiddos this age given the way they measure. If their head isn't exactly touching the top, they could seem taller one appointment. Or, if they're more scrunched up or stretched out, it could affect the measurement.
At her 18 month appointment, my DD was scared of the medical assistant for some reason. She screamed and was refusing to lay still while they tried to measure her height. When they finally decided on a measurement, which actually had her shorter than she was the last time, I wasn't concerned because I'm convinced it wasn't entirely accurate.
Yes, he went from 50th at 18 months, to 34th at 21 months. DH is all worried that he's following in his footsteps - fat little baby, then skinniest / shortest kid in his class. DH is 5'10" now and I told him he has nothing to worry about, but I can understand being the smallest in your class all your life has to be tough.
