OP- Why 2 times before LO is born? Usually just 1 at 28 wks is standard, then again after birth if LO is RH+. I am not sure if I am getting it yet, DH is getting blood tested first to see if he's Rh- or Rh+.

hmm I dunno - my ob said that's standard here (in Australia) if you are rh negative, he said I'll also get one right after the birth if LO is +. My dh is +, so it's a high chance baby is + because + is dominant, but they can't be sure, so better to get the shots:)

This.
I'm neg, my DH is pos, so I'm getting a shot at 28 weeks, and another at delivery if baby is positive...
I've already had two this pregnancy. Once after a spotting episode and one after my CVS testing. Anytime there is a chance for your blood and the babies blood to mix you should get one.
You get it in your upper hip/butt area and it goes into the muscle. It not an easy shot but, it's over with quick and it doesn't cause soreness after the fact.

when i got mine for a mc they did it in my arm, I dont know if mabey you have a choice on where they do it , they never asked either way where i wanted the shot.
I'll be getting mine at my 28 week apt, along with the glucose test, too.
With my last pregnancy, at 28 weeks, they gave me the shot in my arm. The shot after birth was in my butt/hip, that one hurt much more than my arm. Overall, it wasn't any worse than any other shot I've gotten, though.
Ive had it twice also. The first one was cause of bleeding scare at 8 weeks at the ER, than a second one at 12 weeks at my docs. I told them I already had it and they just wanted me to have it again.
Getting mine on March 22nd (then after delivery). Shots don't bother me too much so I'm not really worried about it. I do, however, wish I wasn't Rh-. Then I wouldn't have to worry about all this.
Me. I had one after my m/c last year and I will have one at my 27 week appointment. May have to have another after delivery. I won't lie, mine was more painful than a regular shot I would think because they have to get it deep in the muscle. It was in my butt.
Re: So who else has to have an rh shot?
I already got one at 5 weeks when I went to the ER...but I have to get it again at the same weeks you said.
It actually wasn't bad. Did not hurt...it just makes you jump.
My husband was more freaked out about it. Just don't watch and you will be fine.

I had my shot today. It really isn't that bad, it doesn't make you sore or anything.
Thouuughh I did inadvertantly moon the parking lot, since the window shades were open and we were on the first floor...
LOL! Great! now I know where to expect it!

Gah! I hadn't even thought of where they were going to stick it!
I get the shot and have my glucose test on the same day :-/
oh well - at least it sounds like it doesn't really hurt
I'm having my glucose a few days before - will be a fun fun week!
