Nothing against QSS, I've truly thought this since Lovenote changed her SN (anyone remember her?).
I get that you're trying to protect your privacy and you're worried about your safety. But doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose if everyone knows who you are and remembers your old screenname? I mean, I guess it protects you from future BSC, but not from past ones.
I dunno, maybe I just have a freaky crazy memory. I remember just about everyone's previous SN (assuming I know them) :shrugs:
Re: Here's what I don't get about changing your SN
Exactly.
Same goes for taking your blog private and leaving the link in your siggy.
I agree, and it's why I didn't change mine.
I'm just glad Jessis knows who QSS is. I don't trust anyone right now.
Guilty as charged.
I just haven't had time to take it out yet.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Yet another thing I think is silly, especially when the only thing different is the name. That only works if you've been banned, not when you voluntarily give up your old SN.
Or maybe I'll just change it now since it seems to make you beyond happy! hahahaha
I just wish I had known how to make the ? back when I first made my sn. That would have been awesome.
Also, I just learned today. Like 10 minutes ago when I first replied in this thread. Turns out, it's ridiculously easy.
This and what Armandos said.
Here's my issue with this. Leaving the link still give the URL. If you really want it private, why are you letting anyone who clicks on it see the address?? It's not that hard to google and read the cached results.
When you put in on the internet, it is there forever, no matter what you do after to change that.
Very, very true.
I didn't like her from the get-go. Oh, and her original SN and bio are still up, lol. I loved that she changed her SN and later GBCN'ed over privacy issues when she was one of the biggest Googlers around.
Now, watch, she's probably got some new AE and has been posting here forever and I just don't know it.
I'll only change if I am banned, and I already have that name.
I don't post pictures, names, blah blah blah. So while I know there are people who know my real name and what I look like, it is few and far between.
That said, if someone I know IRL reads what I write here they'll know it is me. I tread the fine line between too much info and anonymity.
LMAO! Excellent point, my friend!

No. musicnotes = FON and long time troll. Lovenote was someonee else.
I want to change my screen name because I hate it. Not for security or anything like that. I don't have a single FB friend that I don't know in real life. And, I don't know, it's just a screen name. If someone doesn't know me if I have a new name, that's ok with me. I haven't been so super remarkable with this one that it matters to me so it shouldn't to anyone else.
Oh and ETA: I said something like that a week or two ago in a similar post about wanting to change my SN and a few people said something along the lines of 'I think less of people who change their SN' and 'I like people less when they change their SNs'. I mean, really? I don't see how it could possibly matter that much to anyone.
I changed mine just because I signed up for it through the knot and it was the same user name I had used for many things. If I googled it, it brought up way too much info.
But I am also super paranoid that friends/ family could find me super easy since it is the user name that is associated with me. This one isn't.
