Good Morning Ladies,
Yesterday I noticed a little rash above my belly button but below my breasts. It itches and are small little read bumps. I had justed Cocoa Butter lotion to help with the stretch marks, so I thought that might be it. I took a shower when I got home and when I woke up this morning it was still there. I know your skin changes during pregancy. It doesnt seem to be spreading just over the top of my belly. I am thinking that I should call the Dr. to double check or should I wait until tomorrow. Funny thing is I never had this during my pregancy with my daugther.
TIA!
Re: Sorry if TMI-belly rash?
PIPS? Do you mean PUPPS? If it's PUPPS, I don't think it's terribly common, but it is supposed to be relatively painful:
Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy
If you do suffer from common issues, such as dry skin, eczema or food allergies then these may be made worse over the course of your pregnancy
Some pregnant women may also experience more intense itchiness during pregnancy. This is often seem in conjunction with itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies. This is known as pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy and will effect about 1% of pregnant women
PUPPP will usually effects women who are in their first pregnancy, carrying twins, and is usually at its worst during the third trimester
Do your bumps look like the above picture? I have teeny, tiny red bumps that itch as well and my doctor was totally unconcerned - she said "hormones" and it will go away eventually. They are NOT PUPPS.
Holy hannah!! That is pretty much terrifying....
I have the same little red bumps above my bellow button as OP described. Doc said it was ok.. nothing serious. Just skin changes and would go away on its own. I did put a little neosporin on it a few nights in a row and it has almost completely gone away.
What kind of rash?
Did it look like teeny, tiny red bumps as the OP and others have described? Or something else?
PUPPs makes you want to claw your skin off, quite literally. It's also more common in a first pregnancy, extremely rare to have in a second pregnancy and not the first.
I think the previous posters are correct that it's probably something else.
