Highlights

 Hi,

I was wondering how many of you have highlighted your hair while pregnant?  I have not done anything but now that I am getting to the end of my 2nd trimester I really would like to get highlights in my hair & wondering how safe it is.

    I've been getting it done.  My doc said highlights are fine as the chemicals dont even touch your skin.

    I'm 22 weeks and got them on Saturday.  All the books I've read say it's fine.  Just make sure the place you go is well ventilated.  If you need to step outside at all for some fresh air, do it.

    I have been getting then since I've been in the 2nd trimester. My doctor said it was ok. My hairdresser had a baby last year and she worked her whole pregnancy. Her little one came out healthy.

    I have gotten my hair done twice since I have been pregnant.  I hear as long as they aren't injecting the chemicals in your blood then you should be fine :)

    My doc said just don't do it in the 1st tri. I've been doing it since in the 2nd.

    I got mine done at 12 weeks and 21 weeks. I hear as long as you get foils and there isn't a lot of color sitting on your scalp being absorbed then you are fine. My hairdresser has 1 little girl and 1 on the way and has colored a lot of pg peoples hair including hers. She even does the all over color on her hair and her baby girl is healthy and fine.

    I want to go darker but my stylist would not dye my hair since it would touch the skin so she did as many low-lights as she could to get as much of the blonde out as possible.  We are having our maternity pictures done in April so I am waiting a little while longer and will have her do another round of low-lights in a few weeks.
