Anyone own a Ford Escape?

We're looking into getting an SUV and were looking at the Escapes. Just wondering how you like yours? and if you don't drive one, could you recommend your SUV? We're trying to get ideas. Thanks!

Re: Anyone own a Ford Escape?

  • I had a 2009 escape and liked it, it was a good SUV for the price.  I have a lexus RX now & I LOVE it.

  • We literally looked as EVERY SUV. There is a really good website that I used to compare models, but I can't remember the name of it. Either way it would depend on the size range you are looking for - in our case we bought a Chevy Traverse and I couldn't be happier. The features are great and the size of the trunk will work for all things baby. We opted for a middle bench and did leather - which apparently is harder to find because we have a huge dealership that carried well over 60 in stock and we bought the only one they had with the leather bench.

My in laws have an Escape and its nice, but I hate riding in the back seat because there isn't a lot of leg room and I'm not even a tall person - 5'5". If you are thinking Ford then I would suggest the Edge over the Escape. We could have gotten a family discount for Ford, but the Edge did not have as large of a trunk as I wanted so we went with the Traverse.

If you aren't going to want something as big as the Traverse I would also recommend the Hyundai Veracruz - they have great features for a ridiculously good price.

  • I have a 2001 Escape and I love it. It's still in great condition and drives really well -- so I'm sure the newer ones would be even better. :) We're planning on keeping this through baby #1.
  • i have a 2009 ford escape and love it - it drives really nice, it has great gas milage for an SUV (25 MPG in the city is what I get) -- there is lots of room in the backseat and great cargo space in the way back. my husband has a mustang, so the escape will be our family car w/ the baby!

  • I wish I had gone for the Escape instead of the Jeep Liberty now. We've had so many problems with Jeep so I do not recommend them at all.

I drove an Escape when I was 16 as my first car though and absolutely loved it!

  • I have an '08 Escape and like it. It has been just enough room for my son and us.   It will work with our second little one... but no room for other passengers besides the four of us.

I do wish we could upgrade to a larger SUV now that we are expecting #2.

  • I have an '06 escape and I really like it.  At the time I was also looking at the Jeep Liberty and ended up getting the Escape partly because it cost less and gets better gas milage (based on the stickers at that time).  Don't know how it compares to new ones, but I like what I have.
  • I have a 2005 Escape Hybrid and love it...I can't imagine needing anything bigger for awhile, and we have carted around other people's kids and gear/luggage..

DS born 8/2010 - preliminary stages of SN int'l adoption - fur mama to 2 shelter dogs;  cloth diapering, babywearing, EBFing mama

  • I have a Nissan Murano and LOVE it!
  • I have a 2007 ford escape and couldn't be happier. I bought it in hopes it would be able to fit all the baby stuff perfectly and it does just that. Much better than my old car, i drove a Mazda and the backseat was sooo small. So this vehicle is perfect, especially because where I'm from 70% of the year is Winter so it gets really slippery. plus its super awesome on gas

  • I have an '04 Escape and like it.  I have had no problems at all with it so far and it will fit our new family of 4 just fine for meantime.  (My DH just bought a new truck to replace his '90s one so until that gets paid off I'm sticking with what I've got.)  For the price you're really getting a good vehicle!!

Eventually I would like to go a little bigger like the Chevy Traverse or something but that will be down the road...

Speaking of Fords... we looked into the Edge and ended up with the Mazda CX7 (they are cousins). I always had my heart set on the Edge but after driving both, I definitely chose the Mazda. My SIL and Aunt both have Escapes that they love. Try out a few and see what suits you the best.

  • We have a 2010 Escape and I love it!  The ride is super comfortable and I didn't want anything too big.  It gets great gas mileage!
