2nd Trimester

Any Texas Mommas out there?

DH and I don't have central heat and air. (We do have a window unit) Normally it's not a problem but I am worried about this summer. Any ideas on how you plan to beat the heat while pregnant.

I am really looking forward to having a summer baby so we can go on those summer night walks. Oh and summer dresses.

    Me!

I could not imagine not having central air.  I would die here in Houston.  I plan on staying inside or in my good friend?s pool all summer.

I too am looking forward to warm weather when we bring baby home.  I think it will make me more comfortable with getting out and not going stir crazy just sitting inside.

  • Me! I'm in muggy Houston. I hope you aren't because you will want to die without AC! I have to admit though, a few good quality window units do much better than you'd think!

I plan on going to the pool a LOT, ice cream, smoothies, Simply Raspberry Lemonade and lots of sweet or peach tea! I'm excited for a summer baby too...night walks are great if it's breezy! Let's hope i don't get carried away by the mosquitos!

    Where in TX are you?

  • I'm in "wait, it's hot today... no,no- that was yesterday.  today it is snowing" East Texas!  I can't wait to be pregnant in the summer so I can wear cute little maternity summer dresses!  I don't know what to tell you about the central air thing... lots and lots of fans?  I plan on being in my parents pool pretty much as often as I can!  At least there people won't judge me for my body! Haha!
  • I'm in Austin and can't imagine going through summer with no central air. Although we do have a small unit in our bedroom which does a great job cooling. I'm planning on living in the pool, and lots of shaved ice!!

  • I came in because I used to live in Houston (over 20 years).  I can't imagine living there with no central air.  I just wanted to say good luck.

I live in Amarillo (Canyon really). Usually it's not to bad without the AC here. At night it gets to about 65-70 so it's nice. The days are still 100+ on most days. I am glad I don't have to deal with the muggy like you Houston Ladies do. I'm just worried about being pregnant with no AC. I may be sleeping on the couch with the window unit blowing on me all night.

  • I live in Dallas, and am so thankful I am due early summer. With DD I went the whole summer. (she was due Halloween) With her I spend alot of time in pool to relieve pain from my back, I lived in flip flops and cotton dresses. When I was home I wore cotton shorts and speghetti strap shirts. I would imagine I will be do the same this time around the weather warms up.
  • Amarillo is the only place I've ever lived that Central Air isn't standard on all homes.  I grew up near Corpus and holy crap I can't imagine going though a summer without A/C.  Even up here I refuse to live somewhere without it.  Way too hot!

  • East TX here... wouldn't make it in the 100+ heat and humidity without A/C! Or lake barbeques :o) Im due early June so it wont be TOOO hot my final month, but hot enough for me to maybe toss on my swim suit at the lake. LOL
  • I am from Dallas college in Houston and I cannot imagine a TX summer without central air.  Surprise
  • I'm a Dallas girl and I have no idea how I would survive without central heat/air.  My plan is to just stay as undressed as I can at the house and sneak over to friends' houses for pool time every chance I get.  Phew.  I'm early August, so I won't have to go all the way through, but July will be tough enough.  If this winter is any indication, I expect it to be pretty effin' hot here this summer.  I'm actually really good with heat, I love Texas summers - but I'm not foolish enough to think I will feel the same THIS summer.  Big Smile
