Re: what baby skin care line do you use?

  • I use California Baby but I don't know if it's any less expensive than Mustela. We use the baby Burt's Bees body wash...I think the Burt's Bees line is cheaper. And paraben-free I believe.

  • I use Aveeno for his body wash, and CA Baby for his butt creme. I don't use lotion on him -- there just hasn't been a need.
  • We used CA baby body wash/shampoo for the first 6 months. When we ran out I bought aveeno, much cheaper. We use desitin for butt cream, never needed lotion for him besides a little aquafor here and there.
  • I use California Baby because I try to stay paraben free (DD had a rash that could be linked to parabens so I'm cautious). I can't buy it locally so I've also used Aveeno. If Burts Bees is cheaper I'll use that, I just need to stay away from parabens for the here and now.

  • I use THIS.  The vanilla tangerine scent. I used to get it at Target but it looks like mine didn't have it the last time I was there.  They also have it at BRU and Whole Foods.

  • CA baby wash/shampoo (super sensitive kind since EJ gets rashes waaaayyy too easy).  I get it at target...

I use A&D w/ zinc or butt paste by bourdeaux....those seem to be the most effective or him and least irritating.

My little guy has really sensitive skin, so I have to go "free" on everything, and since the CA works...I stick with it and don't try anything else for fear we will encounter another rash like he got with the J&J (used in the hospital).

Oh and we use the CA lotion too, but very little and only on his legs and feet and back per his pediatrician...it seems to work like aquafor for him and protect and minimize the rashes he gets from sweat/etc.

  • We currently have Berts Bee's (I LOOOVE the smell, so tend to buy this more often) - use the apricot baby oil, lotion, shampoo and bubble bath.  Have also used, and liked, CA baby and aveeno.
  • I used to use Mustela but came across some information that says it wasn't one of the "safer" products to use on infants/toddlers due to the high levels of formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane. Apparently, this information was enough to force me to change products.

I then switched to California Baby, but I noticed that it dried out my son's skin. I then moved on to Weleda, which I really like. It's relatively inexpensive when compared to Mustela and California Baby and gets the job done. You can buy the Weleda products either through Whole Foods or Diapers.com. I do, however, use the Kiehl's cream facial wash and lotion for DS. I love the Kiehl's facial wash because it doesn't irritate DS's eyes and the lotion is thick and not runny and actually keeps my son's skin really soft. Lastly, I can't lie, the Kiehl's line smells really good and doesn't have a strong scent. Hope this helps.

  • I'm the only Johnson and Johnson user?  I use their baby wash and their pink lotion.  I selfishly love that smell.  We have no sensitivity issues and Crash is always soft and clean.

  • Dh has sensitive skin and so does DS.  We use Burt's Baby body wash/shampoo (and love the slight smell). We use CA baby Calendula cream for his face and any dry spots. We tried Burt's Baby body lotion and their oil on his body but niether really did the job.  We've been using Cetaphil Cream (not lotion) on his body for over a year and it seems to keep him soft and moisturizes really well.  I read a study in the NYTimes that said for kids prone to ezcema, if you start it at or near birth it can really make a difference in how many rash episodes they get.  So that's what we use for the whole family.

I love the smell, too - wish we could use it. But DD got a brutal rash that only clears up with long term antibiotics and some of the ingredients that J&J uses have been linked to that particular rash.

  • I also use the Burt's Bees shampoo/body wash and CA Baby diaper rash cream. I also like baby Aquaphor for diaper rashes.

I just use almond oil on K after her baths, but I use the CA Baby calendula moisturizer on my own face.

    ?

J&J?unfortunately?made B break out the worst! bummer - because I love the smell. We use the lotion every once in a while & it doesnt affect her but the wash does.

CA baby is the best for B but expensive so we use Aveeno every other day and just plain warm water in between. B has very?sensitive?skin.?

Nope, we use J&J too...but N doesn't have sensitive skin.  I love the bed time lotion smell too, and the cocoa butter.

  • The CA Baby for sensitive skin actually gave M a rash - I think it was too drying. I do like their bubble baths for occasional use. We love Burts Bees baby products.

Aveeno is a J&J line, so those who have said they use it are technically J&J users :)
