I love that hospital. My best friend delivered a preemie there in June, and I was her labor coach. They were absolutely amazing, especially the nurses in L&D. I'm hoping the same group are still there when I go in - they were so nice and very informative about everything that was happening.
mrs.kapow! Congrats to you, even if you aren't in the Virtua club. ;-)
Actually Laura_Lee, my name is Laura too, so really small world.
I do like Garden State. My favorite doctors so far are Dr. White and Dr. Articolo. I have an appointment tonight with Dr. Steighner. Before I was pregnant, I really didn't like the nurses there. Now I go more often, I have run into several that were very nice. There are definitely some interesting ones though.
Now if you South Jersey ladies could just solve my issue of finding cheap, reliable daycare we'd be in business. ;-)

Hmm, I haven't met White or Articolo yet, but I had Steighner for my first appt, and she was wonderful. Actually, I'm pretty sure she's the one that delivered my best friend's baby!
As far as daycare, The Goddard School isn't cheap ($1050/mo) but they're the most reliable place I've seen so far. All the staff is great, and the security there is awesome (you have to have a special code just to enter the building, and only an authorized person is allowed to pick up the child at the end of the day). So far all the places I've called in this area are around that same price. It's amazing how expensive child care is!!

ha, yeah so that isn't affordable. I think I need to find in home care until the baby gets older to really get the money out of a day care like that.
Daycare costs stink. And I bet you guys have it slightly worse than me. I really need to get on my horse about visiting these places, too.
Lando, I went on Craig's List to find out some in-home places and they were a bit cheaper, but I didn't check references and whatnot. I guess that's the scariest part for me.

That's my fear too, Mrs. K. We really can't afford to spend that much on daycare, but the thought of having a total stranger with my child alone for hours every day scares the **** out of me... I know I'm being overly paranoid on this one though...

I was hoping to find someone that someone I know used. Unfortunately most people I know with kids are in Pa. I'm nervous about just counting on someone's references to trust them with my child...but it may be the only choice.
Btw I's also delivering at Virtua Voorhees and my OB/GYN is Garden State Obstetrical. Love those guys! I've seen practically all the docs by this point.
As for daycare, I checked out The Learning Experience, Goddard, La Petite, Kindercare and Kiddie Junction. All were on the same level, except Kiddie Junction (avoid at all costs!). I'm going to see Under the Sun tomorrow. At this point, I was happiest with The Learning Experience. It's about $975.
I'm also in Camden County, also delivering at Virtua Voorhees, and also go to Garden State OBGYN.
LandDo! Congrats!
I'm feeling left out of the Virtua club. I'll be delivering in the dirty South at Elmer.
I was wondering where you were delivering girly! Why not Christiana? It's WONDERFUL there.
I go to an OB/midwife practice out of Mullica Hill and they deliver in Elmer, Kennedy and Lady of Lourdes, so I figured that gave me a lot of options in case I'm not home when the baby decides to arrive. And I love my midwife.
Believe me, I definitely considered Christiana after hearing you rave! Do you go to your normal gyno down there?
Re: HEY Where are my Delaware Valley Mommies?
Piper, 4/10/10
Connor, 3/16/15
Morgan, EDD 9/22/16
No way - this is way too weird. Maybe we need a Virtua Voohees Babies club?!
Where are you guys going for your OB visits? I'm at Garden State OBGYN Associates across from the hospital on Cooper Rd.
I'm down in Salem Co.
I've heard awesome things about Virtua.

Wow... I can't get over how small the world really is!
What do you think of Garden State? I love all the doctors (esp. Dr. Colella - he's my favorite), but the nurses really irritate me sometimes.
