Seriously, it's annoying, and she doesn't look so angelic when she's chucking things across the room. ![]()
When she is playfully doing it with her toys around the house, ok, no biggie, but it's moved to when she's mad, too. She throws her sippy down when she's mad or done with it, and the same with toys. When she does it throwing a fit, I make her pick it up and give it to me. I sit with her until she actually picks whatever up and hands it to me or sets it down nicely. I think I say "we don't throw" 100 times a day. When she does set something down without throwing, I make a point to say, good job, you didn't throw, or I thank her. If she continues to throw out of a fit or like when we are out to dinner, I take whatever away. Any more suggestions?
Re: DD won't stop throwing things!
My DD this too when she was younger. Ugh, I was always so embarrassed at playdates because she would throw toys right at the other kids. I just kept saying, "no throw" when she would do it and reach for the object as quickly as possible, and say thank you.
My DD knew what no" meant and she knew what "throw" meant, so I just broke it down to the simplest way possible- No throw!
It took a few weeks but she got it. Now when she looks like she is going to throw something she'll hang on to it until I come over and take it from her.
It's annoying but it does pass. Just stay consistent.
