Morning vent--also pet peeve

WTF is up with all the bicyclists who don't think they have to follow the same rules as cars?

I don't know about all states, but in MN, the rules clearly state that people on bikes have to stop at stop signs and red lights and yield to pedestrians.

Last summer I was walking downtown after work and saw something horrible. The light was green for a car going south, and a bicyclist riding east (on the sidewalk) wasn't paying attention and rode her bike into the side of the moving car!!! If the person had been riding on the street and/or stopped at the red light like she should have, she wouldn't have had to go to the hospital (non life threatening injuries).

None of this we're out in the elements nonsense. So are people on motorcycles and in convertibles. You don't see THEM running red lights.

  • I completely agree.  I always see bicyclists not obeying traffic laws, even when they are riding on the road.  It drives me crazy because I never know what they are going to do and I don't want to hit them even if they are stupid lol.

  • My DH is a bicyclist and it drives him crazy all those people who don't follow the rules.  Says it gives all the rest of them a bad name.  DH says that he had better never see DS doing any of that.

  • I'm with you 100%.  I work on a college campus.  Bicyclists everywhere.  On sidewalks, in crosswalks, helmetless talking on cell phones and running stop signs.  It's amazing I haven't hit one yet.  I have been hit by one - while standing on the sidewalk at a bus stop.  She called me a b!tch and told me to move "my fat a$$".  Um...I'm on a sideWALK at a bust STOP.
