Many moms agree that its?unnecessary?& that you will just ruin it with PP bleeding. I agree that its unnecc but liked having it when people came to visit us at the hospital.

  • I had one last time and will be taking one again. ?I liked it when I walked the halls and when I was able to wear my own gown, I wore it when company came by.

  • I think I will have both... it's not that much extra to bring!

I'm with your mom! My mom brought be a super nice white one to wear ... i know white!? LOL! I only wore it once to walk to nursery to pick up DD and nearly passed out from sweating to death in it. My hormones were nuts by that point and it was Mid June in Texas... too hot for a robe.

Think I'll opt for a thinner DARKER colored one or very comfortable jogging suit to wear if I need to leave the room. I lived in my hospital gown first go, not sure what I'll do this time.

  • I picked up a nice set from Kohls for DD and was happy to have it.  Agree that it was perfect to have the robe for when visitors came.  I guess I got lucky - I managed not to bleed on it and still have them to this day.

This time I got (for my b-day) a labor gown.  Sounds exotic but it is a cute halter dress made out of t-shirt material that I will wear to the hospital and as long as they let me keep it on!  And if it gets ruined - oh well.  At least I will look cute going to the hospital (and if I am lucky - home too!)

  • I have this same question... I know I have got to get something that opens at the bottom for whenever the nurses check me and what not. I am not sure at all on what to wear or bring, but if I am going to be in my jammies for a couple days I definitely want them to be cute jammies! All I have is pajama pants and t-shirts and what not, hmm... That robe looks super cute and comfy!
  • I am due in August and will be bringing a light, short sleeve or 3/4 sleeve, knee length robe just to cover up when I walk or when company comes by.  I am hoping to find a cheap, dark colored one.
  • ooo I dont know I havent started thinking of this but not being abke to wear my pajamas and having complete modesty totaly freaks me out I know that obviously my vagina will be the main event for a day or two but I would like to be as modest as possible afterwards especialy not being in swimsuit shape so I would say yes to a robe!!!!
  • Oh and if for some reason I have a C section instead of vaginal delivery, I won't want PJ pants rubbing all over my incision.  And I doubt they would even let me put pants on the first couple of days.  A robe is definitly a better choice in my opinion.
  • I like the idea of buying a cheapie to take so if something happens I'm not worried about it. I'd rather not be bare butting it down the hallways and I'm pretty modest so I'd prefer to have something to cover up in when people visit.

  • I got two nursing nightgowns with matching robes from Motherhood Maternity for just that purpose.  Both sets are cute, inexpensive (<$40) and perfect to cover up, but I will not be devastated if they get ruined.

    This.

  • I took one with DS and I will again.  It didn't get ruined, didn't even get any stains or spots on it.  I mostly wore it after delivery in the hospital, he was born in January and it was easier to wear tshirts or tanktops for nursing, but the robe was nice for warmth and when people visited.

  • I didn't bring anything with for DD1 and I felt so embarrassed (stupid, yes) when people came to visit and I was in those chintzy hospital gowns and nothing else. I just wanted a little more coverage for my "leftover bump) and my engorged boobs.

So with  my second I bought a super cheap and brightly colored robe from VS to wear at least when people came to visit so I could look a little more presentable. I was SO glad to have it. I always tucked it up my back on the bottom so I would leak onto it and it was fine. It was nice to wear when I would walk to the drink machine on occasion as well. I'll bring another robe this time.

Oh and this time I think I'm going to bring a SUPER cheap nursing nightgown that I picked up at a garage sale last year. It's something I REALLY will not care about if it gets ruined.
