Ultrasound clicky Poll

So, I feel so out of the loop with what a normal pregnancy is like since I am high risk.  It got me thinking, is it normal that my Peri does all of my ultrasounds herself?  So, who does your ultrasounds?[Poll]

Re: Ultrasound clicky Poll

  • I am high risk and had to go to MFM for my 20wk u/s.  I have an u/s at all of my appts, and they are all done by the u/s tech at my OB office.

  • At the OB's office, the OB does them.

At the peri's office, the tech does most of the measurements then the doc comes in and does a quick scan himself.

  • i get u/s every week that my mfm/ob does in the exam room but those are on one of the cruddy machines and mostly just to check for cervical length although he always does an over the belly to show me the babies too.

once a month i have the higher level u/s which is done in my mfm/ob's office but by another dr and his tech. the tech does all the growth measurements and stuff and the other mfm comes in at the end to do the transvginal and review all the measurements.

  • My OB office doesn't even have a u/s machine.  I have to go to a radiology place and a tech does the u/s and then a Dr. will come in at the last minute to tell me that everything is ok.

  • Normal scans are at my ob/midwife's office. The nt scan was done at a MFM practice.

  • My first and second ultrasounds (7w and 12w) were done by the nurse practitioner and ob in the regular exam rooms.  The first was just a dating ultrasound, the second was a bonus cause the ob was frustrated with the doppler so she busted out the u/s machine instead.

The anatomy scan was done by an ultrasound tech in the radiology department.  I think I will get one more u/s towards the end just to check for position and pretty sure it will be the ob/np doing that as well.

  • I get two.  Both the 12 week and the 18 week were done at the hospital by an ultrasound tech.  Won't be getting any more unless they are needed and I'm hoping it won't be needed.
  • I've averaged one a visit. My OB sends me down stairs to an imaging center where an u/s tech preforms it. Then she sends all the results back up with me in a sealed envelope. Then they go over things with me, how much bigger she's gotten and such. The only one that's been different has been the 4D one and that was done at an u/s imaging facility in Minn, I had to take along a referal from my doc basically ok'ing it.

  • My big u/s and a 2nd level u/s I had was performed by a u/s tech at a different location. All my other ultrasounds have been done by my OB at his office.

  • Obviously your Peri is more qualified than an u/s tech so just consider yourself lucky.

  • 8 week u/s was done by a NP.

    20 week u/s was done by a u/s tech.

  • My OB office doesn't have an US machine, so I've gone to the hospital and have had my 1st and 2nd US done by a tech.

  • I am high risk due to the fact that I have multiple sclerosis.  My first US, for dating the pregnancy, was at the regular OB office by an US Tech.  All others have been and will be at the Peri office by an US Tech, then reviewed by the Peri.  I will have an US at each Peri visit, about once a month unless problems arise.   It is good that I am going to the Peri though because they have found signs of possible Placenta Previa, where the placenta attached to the uterine wall too close to the cervix.  Good luck to all High Risk expecting moms out there!!!
  • I am high risk also.  A tech always starts it gets a few good shots then calls in the high risk OB or my regular OB (depending on which office im in) to double check the trouble spots.
