timing intercourse

So I know there are a lot of opinions out there on how frequent you should have "relations" when trying to conceive.

Last month DH and I had relations on Days 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17. I think we can all agree that it was too much. I ovulated on Day 16 so I'm sure DH was pretty depleted by that time.

This month we had relations on Days 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 19. I ovulated on Day 16 again.

Can anyone tell me any information they know about timing intercourse for sex. I''ve read a lot online and I've read TCOYF but I want to hear from real people what worked for them.

BTW, I'm 29 and DH is 32.

When I was 29, I had way more fertile cervical mucus and I timed it the first time I got PG by the CM. Sherman Silber MD of "How to Get Prg" recs 2-3x per week.

Every day or every other day is fine - your husband won't run out of sperm! Pre-O sex is better than post-O, so you are doing just fine. You can have really good timing and still not get pregnant, it's normal.

I happen to like the word "relations"....I'm a goof ball.

I think that I was stressed out last month because of all the sex. This month not so much. I think that if we don't get BFP I will try every other day, that's more my speed.

kdodge, many of the women I've talked to on this board already have kids......

We've done both everyday and every other day and neither has worked for us yet.

I always think of Bill Clinton refering to Monica Lowinsky when I hear the word relations.

Yes, I was lucky with the CM at that time... Silber is an OB. agreed that some women don't get good CM and some have the "BIP" patches of CM that TCOYF refers to.

I timed it this month by EPT brand OPK...since my CM is not too great. Meaning had sex every day when I detected the surge, but also had sex before LH was detected as well...I just happen to O midcycle.

The month I got my BFP we switched to EOD, so I'm a believer in that now... BUT everyone is different, so really its going to be a matter of finding out what works for you. So, really, my two cents probably won't help too much in the end Smile

we did every other day this month (my first month TTC)... im no expert though. its just what i heard was best. i started on cycle day 6 and did it EOD til cycle day 17 or 18 i think. i didnt chart so i didnt know when i O'd. and i tend to have short cycles so i wanted to make sure i covered ground lol

I'm in a similar boat as you...we started TTC on CD12 (that was the day I finally got the green light from my chiropractor) and we have been doing it EOD since. My cycles tend to be on the long side (I don't chart either) and my DH leaves on a business trip on wednesday, so we'll probably do it two more times before he leaves.

I'm going to try to hold off till the 15th of March to test. GL to you!!!
