I have my BIG u/s coming up in a few weeks.
How many "guests" is too much to be in the u/s room???
My parents are definitely driving 7 hours to come in for this appointment. But I also want my MIL (and maybe FIL too) to be a part of it as well!!!
So, this is who all I would like to come:
Myself (of course!!)
Husband (of course!!)
My mom and dad
MIL and FIL
That's 6 of us total!!!! TOO MUCH?????? Should I just have the MOMs come in? (but then my dad would be crushed!!) Not invite the ILs???
WHAT TO DO?!?! Please advise!!
Re: How many "guests" came to your BIG ULTRASOUND??? Help please....!!!!
You should probably call and find out how many people actually can be there..for my big u/s it was SO and mom but I saw someone go in with two others her and her SO..
My new OB only allows one person in the room and no children up to 6yrs.. would be best to find out before bringing them all! and the rooms arent too big so maybe thats too many imo..
Why can't you just tell them later?
Just DH came.
I think it is weird to bring other family into the u/s room. It seems to be that should be a mom and dad moment only.
In the room where I will get the ultrasound done, there wouldn't even be room for 6 people to be comfortable in there so it will just be me and DH (and the OB) ... If there's room and you want them all there tho I say go for it, but maybe ask your doctor if it's ok first? I know some hospitals say no more than a certain # of ppl can be in the room for dellivery, not sure about their policies on ultrasounds.
I think it is exciting that you want to share it with your parents and IL's. I never could.
I would call and ask if anyone else besides DH can be there and how many. Sometimes there are limits as to how may additional people in the room.
Have fun.

I had a huge crowd--DH, MIL, two of my BIL's, SIL, sister, dad, and stepmom. My MIL, who is a radiologist, arranged for me to come by her practice for my big u/s on Christmas Eve. So anyone who wanted to be there was welcome, and all we did was determine the gender. But your doctor may limit the number--my OB would have only allowed me and DH for my anatomy scan.
ETA: It was just me and DH in the room when the told us the gender, than everyone else came in and we announced it, and they all got to see the baby. I liked finding out first, just the two of us.
I would call and find out how many people can be in the room. At my U/S the room was so tiny, there was only room for me, DH and the technician.

ditto this (plus our son who is nearly 4!)
Have you checked with the facility? If they don't care how people are in the room, there probably isn't a "too much"
For all of our ultrasounds it's just been DH and I and I wouldn't have it any other way!
As long as you're allowed to have them then by all means invite them. I was only allowed to take 1 guest to mine (at a specialist's office). Have fun!
i brought 2.. i was not allowed to bring any more in.
you should call your dr's office and ask how many ppl can come. i think it's stupid if u have a bunch of ppl who dont mind being crowded and they are not interfereing with the tech's job, it shouldn't matter
Mom, Dad, sister, Grandma, maybe Grandpa...
I don't think it's too much
This. We are team green anyway, but it was a special moment to really see our LO looking like a baby human for the first time.

I agree.
Plus, only 3 people are allowed into the u/s rooms at my doctor's office.

Um...zero. It was just me and DH. Nobody asked to go, and even if they did, we would have said no. It was me and DH's day.
But, to each their own...
I never thought to invite guests. With DD, it was just me and DH. This time it will be me, DH, and DD.
I do think it's a bit crazy to invite that many people to what is essentially a medical procedure. I'd make sure you're even allowed to bring them. You could always go to one of those places that does 3D u/s to see baby and invite the parents.

We did a sex determination U/S at a 3d/4d place. It was me, DH, Mom, Dad, SIL, BFF, MIL & one grandma. Honestly, it was the best experience. I have no problem sharing special moments with my family, and I hope my son will feel the same way one day!
DH's grandma cried. Our parents were thrilled. It was a great thing to share.
Having it done at the 3d/4d facility meant there was a lot of room and comfy couches. Any of the medical ones at the doctor's office would not have been good for guests. Too small and crowded.
