conjunctivitis - how long after drops should it take for improvement?

C still has red eyes and they are watery.  tonight will be the 4th dose of drops and I am just wondering as he looks so sad the way he is.  It's really hard to get the drops in there so I hope I am getting enough in.

  • We all got better within 24 hours.  I did the pry your eye open method to make sure they got in though because I had it first and knew how bad it sucked.

  • I think it depends if it's viral or bacterial. My understanding is if it's viral, the drops won't do any good as far as getting rid of the conjunctivitis. They'll maybe make him feel better, but viruses just have to run their course.

this...and just last week our dr said if it was bacterial, 24 hrs for him to not be contagious and stop the goop, 48-72 to be symptom free.  if it went away within 24 it was viral, and if the drops didn't help w/i 72, it was viral and viral may last up to 2 wks.
