South Florida Babies

WWYD...

My sister's best friend's dad passed away this morning and the funeral/viewing is tonight... DH is out of town and my parents may not be available to watch DS.  I really want to pay my respects because she is my friend too and I know her parents (we've known them for over 20 years).  Should I take DS and be there for at most an hour (he'll probably fall asleep in the car and be asleep the whole time we're there) or not go at all???

  • I'd take him and pay my respects. You've known them for a while so I'm sure they'd understand that you really wanted to be there for them in their time of grief but did not have someone to leave your little one with.

  • I would definitely go. I'm sure it would mean a lot to the family and in worst case you can step out if DS gets too disruptive
  • I would take him and pay my respects. I know when my father died I felt a little better seeing my close friends there. Even if they were there for only 5min, it made me feel comforted.

  • Like the others girls said I'd take him especially that he'll be sleeping. Gl

  • I'd take him to pay your respects. I had a friend from high school come to Gary's services (I hadn't seen her since we graduated) she brought her baby who was about 5 months old. She ended up leaving before the services started because he was getting fussy but it was really nice that she came to pay her respects.

    this exactly.

My condolences to your friend's family. :(

  • I had to take DS to a funeral when he was 6 months old.  He was in the carrier the whole time.  It wasn't a big deal.
