Are knee socks on little boys lame?

I have visions of Malone in a golf hat, button down, sweater vest, dressy shorts, knee socks, and sweet little shoes for Easter.

Is this lame on baby? Should I wait until next year when he's walking instead? Or, is it lame period?

Re: Are knee socks on little boys lame?

  • You had me with the outfit until the knee socks. Sorry. The rest sounds cute though :-)

  • The outfit sans knee socks sounds cute.

  • I agree with cokt.  I'd just put slacks/khakis on him instead.
  • I'd do knee socks for a little boy!  Of course, I also put them on my son for his first Easter.  He wore a monogrammed jon jon w/ knee socks.

I also love little Eton suits for formal wear, so I'm probably biased.  :)

  • I'm not a fan.

  • I think it sounds super cute.....but I don't know if I've ever seen knee socks for baby/little boys.  But if you do other socks, what kind of socks?  Sandals, I guess?
  • I think it must be a regional thing (and I imagine more popular in the south).  Here in CA if I put knee socks on my boys I think my DH may divorce me.  That said, I do think things like knee socks and Jon-Jons on little boys are cute, just not on my little boys :)

This! :)  And proof I'm not just saying I like it... here's my little guy wearing them last year!

  • I'm a BIG fan of the knee socks look especially with Eton suits and JonJons. We're in Texas though and they are popular in the south. Your little boy is a baby once so this is your chance! Ben is 2.5 and this is the last spring/summer I'll get away with jonjons.
  • EEK, he is freaking adorable Hooray!  I love it!  Jackson is wearing a regular suit/tie for my brother's wedding in June and I am very sad.  I was hoping for an Eton suit, wah.

Also, here is Jackson in his first Easter outfit:

  • Awww!  Eclaires, he is too cute!  See, now how can anyone see our adorable little guys and not think knee socks on babies/toddler boys is a good idea?!  :)  Not biased at all.... haa haa.

And yeah, if there's ever a time to do it, it's when they're still "babies"

  • I think it's adorable. I would even look for some cute saddle shoes.

Ditto this.  It must be regional, but in CT it wouldn't fly either.

  • On little boys, I think it can be very cute. I'm in CA, and I don't really see it down here, but I put DS in a jon jon outfit for easter. He was cute, and I would have gone with the boots with knee highs if he was actually wearing shoes at the time. DH really doesn't care about that kind of thing.

    Not lovin' the hat.

But I personally love the classic look of a little boy in short pants or a romper (Johnjohn) while they still have chubby little legs. Knees highs and saddle or oxford shoes. It's the boy version of a smocked bishop dress- timeless in certain socioeconomic groups.

Basically, if it's something Jackie would have dressed JFK, Jr in, I'm a fan.

    This!! and DITTO eclaires.

I'm sorry I think infant boys should look like babies and not little men. But that is an unpopular opinion around here.

  • They are NMS, but neither are jon jons or Eton suits, so I don't think I'm the best audience for those looks.  I have a friend who puts her 2.5 year old in jon jons and I think he looks so silly.  On a baby not so much, but once they are walking I don't like it.
