Doesn't Want the Bottle

I know I'm probably over reacting, but DD is not interested in her bottle anymore. When she started solids she was taking only a little less formula than normal. Now she prefers solids and only takes 2-4oz at a time from the bottle. Has anyone else experienced this?

I space out bottle and solids so that she has time to digest, but it doesn't seem to matter. She is inhaling the solids when I offer them to her. She's decent size, so I'm not worried about weight... I just know that formula should still be the bulk of her diet, and right now it isn't Hmm

She's still happy as a clam, so I'm not completely concerned... yet...

Re: Doesn't Want the Bottle

  • does she have teeth yet? my son sometimes will be all set with his bottle during teething b/c it bothers his gums.  i assume you are giving the formula before the solids right? hopefully it will just be a phase and passes soon.  good luck!

  • no teeth yet, but definitely has been teething for over a month now... hope that's all it is. i always try the bottle first, she sips it and then spits it out after an oz or two... weird! thanks for the insight :-) we'll blame this one on teeth.

  • don't worry too much yet.....if she's still eating then she'll be ok. my son did the same thing and I had the same concerns. But I incorporated the formula with the solids or puree foods he was eating. For example, I made mash potatoes and sweet potatoes with his formula. she definitely still needs the vitamins in the formula. My son loves cream of wheat, so it was perfect. He did still take the bottle occasionally. Teething sometimes get them out of wack. But I have to say by 11months, my DS was completely off the bottle and I loved it! no more bottles to wash(it was my secret pet peeve...less enjoyable part of motherhood..thank God for DH) and he was eating solids so I didn't have lug bottles with me when we out...

Of course, if you get too worry talk to your pediatrician.
